t’s so tiring to see the “bitcoin is money” “bitcoin is an asset” argument. Unless you can do something about this classifcation, you really shouldn’t care either way. If you feel bitcoin is money, then use it as money. If you feel bitcoin is not very useful as money now, or ever, then use it as an asset. If you’ve got money to lobby, go ahead. People who do, already do so. If you’re a humble pleb, well.. not much you can do other than just use it the way you want to. Bitcoin will be designated as something you don’t like, or as something you like - it’s not in your control so why worry? Do you really think the US of A under Trump is going to favor Bitcoin as money narrative? Trump loves his fiat and I am not even sure he understand bitcoin (probably not). I really doubt the current administration will want bitcoin as money unless strong influence sways them otherwise - in which case we still don’t have a say. Even if it stays as an asset - that still means adoption - whether you agree with that definition or not. The more commonplace it gets, the more solid footing it gets on the global stage and the more people are even welcoming of it, regardless of designation. As bitcoin rises, so does the bitcoiner influence and ability to influence policy. If you are in this for decades, it shouldn’t really matter what bitcoin is designated as atm. The states will do everything in their power for as long as it takes to fight it overtaking their insider preferential system, unless it somehow benefits them (which for some may be the case). It’ll be used as a political tool, as a tool of war, or however the powers see fit. The only thing YOU can do is build and act in ways that you can act - encourage adoption by whatever means that work for you.
There will be struggles, there will be shifts in administrations, in policy, but one thing I am certain of is that number go up, users go up. No need to get angry over some story or over what some person is saying. People will act in their best interest, so act in yours, whatever that means to you.
But what do I know… just a kat.
