We do burgers, chili, lasagna¹, anything with ground beef and use that instead and it works great. The 12oz package is about equivalent to a pound (since I think less cooks off), which makes it easy for recipes.
Katie has a meatball recipe which is really good but the Impossible Italian meatballs are also pretty good.
