During the communist regime, Father Constantin Sârbu secretly baptized children in Bucharest, defying the atheistic government. Despite constant surveillance and threats, he continued his ministry, providing spiritual guidance and sacraments to those who sought refuge in the Church. He was eventually arrested for his faith and died in communist prisons a martyr of the Church.
