When I worked in the management of a care and support provider I was shocked by the rapidity of withdrawal of benefits for elderly service users with learning difficulties if they had to go into hospital. There was no regard for how to maintain the living arrangements for them to return to. It was down to us to just waive the costs of keeping that empty place available for the duration.
