The “Business Plot” aka “the Wall Street Putsch” was an attempt by Morgan, du Pont, and Brown Brothers Harriman to have a fascist coup in the United States in 1934
The AGENT of these men was a guy name, I shit you not, Jerry MacGuire. When he approached Smedley Butler to lead the coup, Butler asked him literally to SHOW ME THE MONEY
The NYT and Time both downplayed the allegations when Butler revealed the plot to congress. You can watch Butler detail the plot for the public on a Universal Newsreel at the time.
Universal was the only remaining privately held studio in Hollywood. In 1936 it was taken over by Wall Street. Coincidence?
