John Swinney has confirmed that he believes men identifying as women are real women as he backed SNP policy that allows biological men access to female-only spaces such as toilets and changing rooms. The First Minister was pressed on the gender question at a press conference in Bute House on Wednesday.
As he called on "mainstream" Scots to come together to combat "far right" Reform, he once again put himself at odds with the public opinion in the trans debate and single-sex spaces. According to a recent YouGov poll, the majority of Brits don't think transgender women should be allowed in female toilets or changing rooms.
