Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted by Relays is a decentralized social network, specifically designed to avoid the algorithmic manipulation and centralized control seen on platforms like Facebook, 𝕏 or Instagram.
Why there is (or should be) no algorithmic manipulation on #Nostr?
1. True decentralization:
Nostr does not rely on central servers or a single company. Instead, data is transmitted through relays (nodes), and anyone can set one up. This makes it difficult for a single entity to impose a manipulative algorithm.
2. No centralized curation algorithms:
Content in Nostr is presented in chronological order by default (as God and hackers command). There is no algorithm to "suggest" content based on what made you stay on screen the longest.
User choice:
Users can choose the client (the app they use to access Nostr), and each client can implement its own filtering or display logic. But the key thing is that the power is on the user's side, not on the side of a hidden, engagement-hungry algorithm.
Open source:
As many clients and relays are open source, any attempt at algorithmic manipulation can be detected and criticized by the community. Transparency level "I can see right into your soul".
But be careful...
If you use a client that does use a recommendation or filtering algorithm without notifying you, that would be a form of algorithmic manipulation, although it is not inherent to Nostr, but to that specific implementation.
You also have to consider third-party content curation, such as bots, lists of recommended users or filtered feeds that can skew what you see.
But again, that's not mandatory manipulation, but optional and visible.
Nostr was designed to be immune to algorithmic manipulation by default, but as always, the devil is in the details and how you choose to use it.
Amethyst is an excellent choice for Android.

Vậy làm sao để trở thành một người bố, người mẹ đủ thông thái, đủ bao dung và thấu hiểu con đây? Suy cho cùng đích đến của những người làm cha làm mẹ chính là thành công của con, nhưng liệu chúng ta có đang quá khắt khe với con không?
Sinh con ra ai cũng muốn con giỏi giang, thành công, nhưng có nhiều ba mẹ hiện nay đang đặt quá nhiều tiêu chuẩn cho con. Nói đơn giản như ba mẹ giói toán vậy con không thể học kém toán, con sẽ làm xấu mặt ba mẹ. Con phải đi học tiếng anh thật nhiều vì ba mẹ muốn con có thể có những công việc vươn ra quốc tế…
Những kỳ vọng thái quá của cha mẹ có thể xuất phát từ nhiều nguyên nhân khác nhau: do cha mẹ quá lo lắng cho tương lai con trẻ sau này; do cha mẹ muốn con thực hiện những ước mơ của mình trước đây còn dang dở; do cha mẹ đánh giá quá cao về khả năng của con cái; do sự cầu toàn của cha mẹ; do vấn đề giữ sĩ diện,… mà hoàn toàn không chú tâm đến cấu tạo não bộ vốn có ở trẻ vẫn có những giới hạn nhất định.
Nhưng liệu có bao giờ ba mẹ nghĩ rằng mình đang tạo áp lực không đáng có thay vì kỳ vọng trong khả năng của trẻ để thúc đẩy sự phát triển và nỗ lực phấn đấu của con hay không?
Những đứa trẻ cần học cách đối mặt với những thất bại trong tương lai. Con luôn muốn làm cha mẹ mình vui và hạnh phúc. Tuy nhiên chúng cũng cần đưa ra những ý kiến cá nhân, làm những gì chúng thực sự muốn. Thật đáng ngưỡng mộ khi cha mẹ sẵn sàng chấp nhận sự khác biệt của con, tin tưởng chúng và cho phép con được là chính mình, hỗ trợ con trong những lúc khó khăn nhất.

Or keep a large pack of 8-10 litres hidden away in your home somewhere.
✅ Basic first aid kit with basic meds 💊 like antacids, paracetamol, cold meds, bandages and bruise creams/balms.
✅ Blankets for places that get cold
