My daughter was very concerned about it too. I let it go outside and it flew away. It was during the warmest time of day so I think it had good odds of being ok

Looking at zaps the author replied to is a metric that's harder to game since it spams the reply section (and isn't hidden in the barely visible zap section that most apps have).

the efficiency in all of this is that all/most the info needed is stored (or is at least highly incentivized to be stored) by the communities (relays) the user is already connected to;
-
Once you allow people to target/publish 1 event in multiple communities (i.e. relays), you get a super high signal graph of your network for free, in the most efficient and targeted way.
An example, to answer some use case questions:
Danny the dev publishes a photography app release in a set of photography communities + a community that's all about using Kotlin for cool FOSS apps.
❓ What replies should an app display by default?
👉 the ones one the relays (communities) were this app release was targeted (and accepted!)
❓ What's a efficient and useful way to define and calculate the npubs in "Your Network"?
👉 following + contacts + active npubs in communities you yourself are active in.
You don't save everyone from every telegram group you're a part of as a contact, but that doesn't mean those profiles aren't epic useful for quick and targeted filtering use cases.
❓ What (photography) books should a book app recommend to Danny the dev?
👉 the books that are valued by his photography Network
How do you know what his photography network is? Danny can select the relevant communities in two clicks or you can fairly detect topics based on the tags/categories of the communities themselves.
How do you know what's valued? It's whatever is being zapped/replied to OR literally is being stored in the communities (relays) themselves.
❓ What apps should Zapstore recommend by default?
👉 similar to the previous use case, but with an extra focus on the app releases that are stored in the communities he's a part of

Built custom input widgets for Zap amounts and messages.
Amount:
- gives the user access to recently used amounts (by him!) instead of proposing a fixed set of amounts that he's got to edit in a settings menu somewhere.
- has all the other necessary features for quickly setting a specific amount, all within the apps styling/theme.
Message:
- has all the necessary features for enabling richer zap messages, that go beyond "Onwards".

It's only a paradox if you keep thinking from the Client-perspective.
From the Relay-perspective, different communities are different relays.

But NosTR solved for this from the start.

Today I am releasing "noflux", a lightweight RSS and Nostr longform reader for the desktop and personal servers: https://github.com/fiatjaf/noflux
It supports all sorts of RSS feed discovery from HTTP URLs and renders them beautifully in a simple straightforward interface, you can also paste nostr:... URIs, including nip05, npub and nprofile codes (they should also work without the nostr: prefix).

I'm building these widgets for a Flutter design package that will be used in :Zapchat: Zapchat, :Zapstore: Zapstore and others.
-
I don't think it's ever been merged?
https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/pull/901
-
Yes, but they can only choose one. And one UI/UX that goes with it.
-
> lack of UX consistency
Yup, that's where a lot of the friction comes from. That's why I think including features like reply sections in specialized apps is rarely worth it. Users will have their favorite daily driver(s) for that sort of stuff.
I want my custom emojis, right there, when I type a ":" and I want swipe actions and... Others don't give a 💩 about that and need every available action to be literally spelled out on the screen (the facebook crowd).
Daily drivers compete on things like reply sections. Niche apps are wasting their time with them. No consistent UX (agreed upon by a Nostr Kabal) or ready-made components/libraries will change that.
> We need to figure out a way to normalize that across apps.
So no, I'm aiming for the contrary: highly diverse UI/UX in daily drivers.
-
> Community focused
💪

Depends what you want to display about them.
I care a lot about by whom and where (what relays) App Releases are published. But you can completely keep it to whatever parts of this screen you'd want to display.
-
Daily drivers make a ton of sense.
Users want to engage with notifications, conversations, zaps and the most basic content types in **one place**. I do too.
It's for opening (and even more so creating!) niche content types that they'll need specialized apps.
Next to that, apps that bring all your [Enter Content Type] together in a manageable library will play a big role too. Music player, Podcast player, App Store, Workout Tracker... Although, these apps should probably link out to the user's daily driver for a great reply-, zap- or notification experience and instead :110percent: focus on on being a high quality place for finding, creating and (dis)playing the content type they focus on.
These two types of apps are complementary with daily drivers and make them even more valuable. Making them obsolete is the last they'll do.
-
you really don't seem to understand i have been involved in bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general since 2013 and i was working with them and mining them and studying the game theory and developing my own proof of work and my experience told me that over time all the value moves to only one coin, bitcoin, and the rest of them are just ways for VCs to chase after that brief profit when the hype train hits terminal velocity and then after that, it's over
it won't make any difference what way you try to construct a way around it, none have succeeded in 15 years to displace bitcoin and lightning is the main reason why bitcoin fees are so low, and there isn't actually a way to measure the liquidity and velocity of money through lightning, so people think it's whatever their favourite influencoor on X says it eas, meanwhile said influencoor pockets the sponsorships to pimp the flavour of the month while the people behind it are stacking sats
-
Luckily, "your way" allows you to edit contradictions out 😜

"That won't fly here" sounds a lot like "my way is the way to do it and your way must cease to exist" 😂
I do agree though 😉.
-
I see. If I replace "hypernote" with "newspaper style" or "geeky gothic" or sth in what you wrote, I get it. Thanks.
Hypernotes are/will be a different thing 👉 Interactive pdf / microwebsite with a fixed size that :110percent: displays as intended by any app that implements it.
-
Francis Bacon entered the chat...
-
GM ☁️
-
I think I completely misunderstood what you meant with "a stylesheet for an online article" then. When would you ever need a nostr event for that? That's what I don't get.
-
That's what I think isn't really necessary.
I will display those code sections the same way I will display other code sections within my :Zaplab: Zaplab widgets. Chachi will display them in their own style. And even Alexandria has its own style for this.
If creators want :110percent: guarantee over how their visual content is displayed, they should use the formats suited to that: video, PDFs, Hypernotes, ... For textual content like this, this isn't the priority and I think authors very much prefer that the styling of their content fits in with the app their readers choose to engage with it.
The only reason you'd want to have an actual formatting file is when you'd want to, for example, create a PDF or printed book from this. Then you'd use an app to go from the nostr events to some very specific styling you'd define page by page. This app could tap into the nostr events and create something like a word or InDesign file, with all the formatting, that can be shared and collaborated on. Then you'd export from that app to the PDF's or book printers.
-
Fucking Canadians always sucking ass😂
-
Neat :Zapstore:
-
So it's some sort of interoperable file that the Nostr analogs of things like InDesign, Affinity Publisher and Scribus could tap into? 🤔
-
Why do you need an event for the formatting (stylesheet)? Why can't it just **be** the format (file type)? And then you link those PDF's, epubs, etc... to the index event.
-

Building a Flutter design package is the first thing that made coding fun for me.
If anyone knows of a (non-Nostr) job where can I do/learn more of that 👉 Lemme know!
-
Thanks. Yup agree :Check:
Cool, I can work with that. Then, as long as it's text, it can just be 99% the same creation / reading tools under the hood. Just need to switch icon, name and (sometimes) serif to sans font.
-
I need to start writing out the docs for the zaplab_design widgets I'm building.
-
Sidenote: do you know of a :Nostr: solution to docs yet? Seems like 30040/30041 would be the way to go for that too, no?
Which leads me to my next question: Is there a way (i.e. tag/label or sth) to tell what the text content type is? Book / Scientific paper / Docs / Article / ...
-
> Of course a full transaction history would probably be immense, but I'm not sure how important that would be for anything other than chain analysis.
Do you want the answer most Bitcoiners want to hear or the actual answer?
The former: “verifying the chain”
The latter: the chain has been verified so many times that more than 1 year of history is only useful for data mining

Flutter is so perfect for this kind of complex UI's (and for designers like me that are new to coding this sort of stuff).
I'm learning how to turn my prototypes into a full flex design package at a very satisfying speed. For me, at least, as the designer that wants near-full control and guarantee over every pixel. Still too slow probably for the devs and users!) that want to use all of this three months ago 😜.

I think I do remember, I remember Signal started as TextSecure, an app for encrypting SMS messages, but that world is largely the same world as of today (today people are using Telegram and Instagram DMs and that stuff), but I get your point: Signal is better than nothing. I just consider the sheer worship of Signal that some people demonstrate to be dangerous and worrisome.
Can you find any criticism of Signal on the internet by any serious privacy advocate? No, everybody loves Signal unconditionally, there is no mood for improvement nor any love for solutions that are much better (at least in principle) such as Simplex.
And yet Signal is collecting all possible metadata about all its users and conversations, and all its users have a KYC phone number attached to their accounts. Is this false?
