This got me thinking of a prank, where you send many small fiat amounts to someone you love and make each message one row of ascii art dick. Dick picks over bank statements.

Thanks for the hints. I got it working again. However...
I uninstalled Fountain, which was installed though another app store, and then went back to zapstore, searched for "fountain" and got hit by this message: https://image.nostr.build/bfb0146965218f7d9cbfccc0f769faed271b52ac3011ef11dbfde523c08414c7.jpg

Damn!
Double-zapped *again*.
I clicked the zap button, selected the amount and then zeus opened showing the invoice. I hit the big button, then it "fails" after 1m, but under the hood my node keeps trying. I was fooled by this and tried to zap again which also "failed". This resulted in two zaps.
The issue seems to be that zeus displays the payment as failed, but it's not.

Beem thinking the same. What's clicked for me in your article is the info asymmetry. They probably studied you thoroughly.
Also interesting with the legal issues of escalation.
Regarding geographically distributed keys, it's hard to convince the attacker that that's the case. But that's out of scope for your article.

Ok, understood! Thanks for reply.
So after you've plugged in the first signer, you could for a k-of-t setup try each possible set of k signers and for each set that includes the plugged in signer, you show the possible cosigners. Is that what you're suggesting?
Couldn't you instead just sign all possible sets with the first plugged-in device, then plug in the next and filter out the sets of k signers further, and so on until there's only one such set left after the last device is plugged in? Is there danger in signing frivolously like this? They all sign the same message (i.e. a bitcoin input), right?

It's cool! I think you should shift "supply" and "percent" columns down by one and put 0's on the top row. It'd make it more intuitive (for me at least).
But then you'd need another row at the bottom (epoch 34, year 2140) and put 0 for reward.

There is no such capability in amethyst, right? Of course you can copy the npub and create an account with it, but a Malkovich button gives you a very easy way to do it. Just to temporarily transcend into someone else's persona.

I think this is a great question that we don't have answers to, which show in the comments.
I think we'll be using custodial solutions with a high degree of auditability. When I want access to my funds they'll give me a lightning channel that they create from a channel factory (handwaving). Of course they'll offer me on-chain too, but I won't afford to use it
So kill me.

Just read the disclosure of a severe vulnerability in libbitcoin's `bx` tool that limits seed entropy to 32 bits.
https://milksad.info/disclosure.html
Got me wondering about security of various multi/threshold signature wallets.
Traditional OP_CHECKMULTISIG adds one bit of entropy for each extra signer, given that the individual pubkeys are disclosed. A 2of2 multisig would be 33 bits of entropy and also easily identifiable as vulnerable once a spending tx is published.
But using taproot and musig2, the individual pubkeys are not disclosed, so the number of bits is doubled for each extra sig. A 2of2 multisig would be 64 bits of entropy, and not easily identifiable as vulnerable.
Amirite? nostr:npub1j5mp526z5fkz9wkrk6mt5nzu43xndyrwkr8mnqngdqwytgcpc5vqcnsd5c nostr:npub1vadcfln4ugt2h9ruwsuwu5vu5am4xaka7pw6m7axy79aqyhp6u5q9knuu7
Haven't thought about musig2 this way before. It's a belts and suspenders type of thing in case entropy turns out to suck.

I agree that it doesn't change the security model, and Bitrefill doesn't say that. In practice, however, disabling opt-in RBF has worked pretty well so far. Since this seems to be changing, we're actively discussing how to approach it going forward.
We're having small transactions only and can thus afford to be screwed (we're not quite there yet), which serves as a signal for us to adapt to a new environment.

But I do think that various coinjoin protocols set different sighash flags. I guess nostr:npub1klkk3vrzme455yh9rl2jshq7rc8dpegj3ndf82c3ks2sk40dxt7qulx3vt can answer that.

Yes each input requires a different signature (even if they spend from the same address),
There are no signatures on the outputs. The full transaction, including its outputs, is covered by the signatures on the inputs. But you can somewhat modify (using sighash flags) what the signature covers (commits to) when you make the signature.
-
@ 4149bd2c:992e714d
2023-07-13 09:25:41
The sighash flags are set in the signature itself. The user that signs an input sets eg SIGHASH_ALL when signing. This means that any changes among the outputs will render the signature invalid.

I really like your article! Isn't a drawback of running your own VPN server that the size of your anonymity set decreases to 1? If twitter knows you're behind 1.2.3.4, then they know all traffic from that ip is yours. They can sell/share/leak that info to anyone.
Isn't that a good reason to use Mullvad or other shared VPNs?

You can figure out a lot from running:

But I'm not sure that answers your questions, because I guess you already knew the --help flag.

How do I setup NIP-57 for receiving zaps? I run LNbits on top of a Core Lightning node. I'd expect there's some LNbits extension for this, but can't find any.

Thanks for the tip! However, I have no clue on how to enable zaps on my LNURL server (LNURLp on LNBits). Maybe you have some pointers? I run LNBits on top of a Core Lightning node. I'd expect some lnbits extension to do this for me, but can't find any.
