Nah, inflation does erode un-invested wealth over the years, but it doesnāt evaporate the $30 in a poor personās pocket faster than they can spend it. Poor people donāt earn enough to accumulate any wealth therefore inflation doesnāt make them poor. The issue is that too many jobs donāt pay living wages or provide adequate benefits.
Yes, inflation does increase the cost of living over time so in that way itās part of the problem. But imo the real problem is a distorted labor market.

I think the issue is that not enough people can provide enough for themselves to live. We see this today with the number of people living below the poverty line. The wealth gap is too high and, without government intervention, the jobs that people have access to donāt pay well enough for these people to be able to provide food for their families, let alone medical care, let alone a secure retirement. If free market capitalism was working so well, why are we seeing this?

Bureaucracy is inherently inefficient. But the alternative to some of these more critical welfare programs is people dying poor, sick and hungry. The trade off is that stark. What gets me about this argument is that those that advocate against these programs seem ok with those consequences because it would prevent abuse by a minority of bad actors (which every society has)

A Bitaxe actually did find a block, which is why I figured why the hell not and sprang for a $500 SupraHex with 4+ TH.
I used to mine Vertcoin on my GPU and wished I had the power and noise isolation to mine Bitcoin at home (small apartment life) so I thought it was pretty sweet when these low power, near silent Bitcoin miners came about. My AxeOS dashboard reports Iām pulling about 90W and itās whisper quiet. Decentralization is fun.

My main beef with nostr:npub1getal6ykt05fsz5nqu4uld09nfj3y3qxmv8crys4aeut53unfvlqr80nfm #NWC is what I perceive to be fragility. Every time I connect my node, I end up having to reconnect it a day or two later because I think the connection is broken.
But Iām realizing that this might only be partially true.
Say I zap someone via NWC. The zap shows up as pending. Sometimes the zap goes through, but sometimes it doesnāt. I only find out about this by refreshing several times. I donāt see a payment from my node, the zap didnāt workā¦ what gives? NWC must be broken.
But as Iāve been using good old fashioned manual zaps Iāve realized it might not be a problem with NWC! Sometimes when I go to zap someone, my nostr client is unable to get an invoice. This could point to an issue with the node that Iām trying to zap. The zap via NWC might just be failing silently because of that.
I just wish there was a way to get that feedback from NWC. Like, āhey your zap failed because we couldnāt get an invoice, go try that again.ā #wishlist
