pick land with a small creek, that works, also has other benefits like you can add a hydro generator or water wheel (pure mechanical)
or you can dig a decent sized dam, and put trout in it as well... or even do both, and divert the water flow in and out of the dam so it's fresher and tends to stay at an even level except in bad drought
