The Bank Secrecy Act, established in 1970, required reporting cash transactions above $10,000.
Today, 55 years later, that threshold remains unchanged.
But $10,000 ain't what it used to be back in 1970.
To give you an idea of just how much money $10,000 was back then:
- US Median household income was $9,870
- The average US house cost approximately $23,000
- Chevy Impala, the best selling car in the US in 1970, had a starting price of $3,200
So you could go to your Chevy dealer and buy three Impalas in cash without triggering the cash transaction reporting requirement.
Today, thanks to the lack of adjustment for inflation, far smaller purchases like a high-end Apple Mac Studio computer purchased with cash would trigger a reporting event.
Adjusted for inflation, the threshold should be $82,422 today.
At the rate they are printing money, in a couple of decades you'll need to report every other grocery shop 😂

Thanks for coming to the rescue Fiatjaf. This is better for sure, and now that you mentioned it... It was on the README the entire time 🤣 (apologies for wasting your time).
It would be awesome if we could use nak --connect '[bunker url]' multiple times and then reference the nsecs by npub or index though. I understand that I can just set bunker urls (or nsec for all that matters) in env variables, but for most purposes this isn't much safer than just rawdogging the Bunker urls or nsecs directly.

I like this for sure. You sound very familiar with nak. Can I ask you as customer service for software that you didn't egent write?
Say that I have nsec 01 and nsec 02 and I want to alternate between the two (not mulsig, each key signs different events).
Is there a way to alternate between the keys without raw dogging it on my shell? Say:
~> nak blossom --server blossom.azzamo.net --sec 01 upload image.png
{"sha256":"38c51756f3e9fedf039488a1f6e513286f6743194e7a7f25effdc84a0ee4c2cf","url":"https://blossom.azzamo.net/38c51756f3e9fedf039488a1f6e513286f6743194e7a7f25effdc84a0ee4c2cf.png"}
~> nak blossom --server blossom.azzamo.net --sec 02 delete 38c51756f3e9fedf039488a1f6e513286f6743194e7a7f25effdc84a0ee4c2cf
(Should fail ad nsec 02 can't delete nsec 01 blobs).
Is there a way that I can store my nsecs somewhere and alternate between nsec01 and nsec02 using their pubkeys, etc?

No problem at all. Just open the folder where you cloned Haven, then run the command "git pull" to download the latest master branch version (it may be a bit unstable) or if you want a stable version use something like:
git fetch --tags
git switch --detach v1.0.5 (this is currently 3 months old)
Then "go build" again and restart Haven. If you followed the README and have a systemd service i think kt can be done with a simple:
sudo systemctl restart haven
Let me know if you need any further help.

I get it. NWC also makes me a bit uneasy. Still... it's bloody convenient, especially in split zap-like scenarios (e.g., it's ironically painful to zap Amethyst devs from Amethyst itself without NWC).
I wish NWC enabled wallets made it easier to use my own relay for NIP-47 events. I was experimenting with adding a personal payment relay to Haven (based on nostr:nprofile1qqsw9n8heusyq0el9f99tveg7r0rhcu9tznatuekxt764m78ymqu36cpr3mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujucnfw33k76twwpshy6ewvdhk6tcpzdmhxue69uhhwmm59e6hg7r09ehkuef0qy2hwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtn4w3ux7tn0dejj7ne6u4e’s payment relay), but it’s a bit pointless unless you're running your own NWC-enabled payment infrastructure. I mean, I can easily forward events to other relays, but the whole thing is pointless if the wallet doesn’t generate a proper nostr+walletconnect:// URL with the relay address in mind, write a Kind 13194 to it, read 23194 requests from it, write 23195 responses back to it, send notifications to it, etc. The whole setup couples the wallet and relay pretty tightly.
In theory, this could be configurable though. The wallet could take one or more relay addresses.
nostr:nprofile1qqs9vmqkduad4vxglwja5q2mpvauer4nd9452he2r4pml0vhqktyd2qpzemhxue69uhhyetvv9ujucm0d9hx7uewd9hj7aqfmp9 I know this is a huge ask, and not something a lot of users would need (most folks this deep into Lightning/NWC are running non-custodial wallets) but is there any chance you could add the possibility of configuring extra relays on Coinos? It would be awesome for those running personal relays.

Small world! I had no idea you two knew each other. Anderson and I worked together ~15 years, 5,000+ miles, and three countries ago.

"We have not succeeded in answering all our problems. The answers we have found only serve to raise a whole set of new questions. In some ways we feel we are as confused as ever, but we believe we are confused on a higher level and about more important things." - The more I learn about the human body the more this seems true.

Yeahp, blooming economy... I love the early 2000's look of this one. Also the toggle between dark mode and... well... darker mode is fun :).
Thanks for sharing. nostr:nprofile1qqspwwwexlwgcrrnwz4zwkze8rq3ncjug8mvgsd96dxx6wzs8ccndmcpzemhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuurjd9kkzmpwdejhgqgcwaehxw309aex2mrp0yh8xmn0wf6zuum0vd5kzmqpzfmhxue69uhhqatjwpkx2urpvuhx2uctyqxu5, are you "done done" with this one? Like throwaway experiment? Or is it just a low priority thing that works as is and you may still revisit later?

Sorry for your awful experience. You are not missing much. Most jobs are fake, the tool has became increasingly buggy and the algorithm basically burries everything but product and sales people pedaling GenAI. LinkedIn surely has seen better days. Do you remember the name of the abandoned site by any chance?

Is there a LinkedIn like professional network or job board built on Nostr? If not, is anyone building one or thinking about it? Anything concrete beyond jobstr like hashtags?
I know a lot of folks here think of LinkedIn as one of the cringiest platforms ever created, but given its current level of enshittification, there's certainly room to replace it. Plus, it would do wonders to advocate for Nostr outside of BTC and crypto circles and attract folks that otherwise wouldn't touch Nostr. As far as I can tell, ActivityPub doesn't have a LinkedIn alternative either, so Nostr could be the first decentralised LinkedIn replacement, or at least one of the first open alternatives.

The way I see it is …
The code under #safebox is an information virus. Just like a cash transaction or a random conversation. Once the user chooses to scan in … and receive the data … they are free to interact with the network and onboard others to it.
Just like giving someone $10 cash in hand on-boards them into the financial world & they can do as they will with it & the open economy.
The underlying tech of Safebox brings together a bunch of tools to replicate that same experience that no previous technology got quite right.

Popular issue: devs wanting to give users the "best UX" without considering potential attacks. Sometimes it's not even pre-buffering, they're just trying to load meta tags to render previews (Schema.org, Open Graph, Twitter Cards, etc.).
Battle story: I was part of a war room at a big marketplace (not Amazon) that kept going down, was being flagged on popular platforms for issuing too many requests, and also tanked its SEO for "no reason".... When I say big, I mean core web services and microfrontends running on Kubernetes clusters with 1000+ nodes.
Turns out their software was not only allowing links to anything in the comments, but also trying to render previews. If I’m not mistaken, the solution was to filter and audit comment links, as well as limit preview rendering to around 3 links per page. It took months before links to the website started showing up on the first page of Google again, likely tens of millions of USD lost in sales at their scale.

I didn't try to expand the note, but it has flown through my feed on Amethyst with no issues. What is actually breaking the clients? Are they trying to do hundreds of requests at once to preview the videos?
