自民党の森山幹事長は、消費税の税率を下げる場合には社会保障の代わりの財源の明示が必要になるとして引き下げに慎重な姿勢を重ねて示しました。また、物価高に対応するため、今年度予算の執行状況を見極めながら補正予算案の編成を検討すると明らかにしました。
自民党の森山幹事長は鹿児島市で講演し、消費税が社会保障などの財源になっていると触れたうえで「消費税を下げることや税金が安いことはいいことだが、今の社会保障を担保するため、減税した分の財源をどこに求めるのかという話がないとつじつまが合わない」と指摘し、税率の引き下げに慎重な姿勢を重ねて示しました。
そのうえで「『国債を発行すればいい』とか『国債は返済をしなくていい』という極論すらある。国が借金を返済しなければ国際的な信用はゼロになり、国債の評価が大変になればたちまち財政破綻する。責任政党として国家の将来に誤りなき財政運営をしたい」と述べました。
また、森山氏は消費税の扱いが夏の参議院選挙の争点になるという見通しを示しました。
一方、物価高対応について22日からガソリン価格の引き下げ措置が始まることや、交付金を活用した自治体ごとの支援策が今後本格化すると説明し、「今年度予算の執行をしている最中であり動向をしっかり見守る。しかるべき時期に補正予算をやらせてもらう」と述べました。
