As with every other category of digital technology, the challenge before those building on Bitcoin is whether or not to be an enabler of extralegal violation of individual liberties. Obvious in ways, but approaching existential importance, nevertheless.
Why?
The “and now we add AI” trend is hyper-accelerating the direction of established and emerging payments players in the direction of omniscient surveillance. See my previous note on Stripe.
It’s no longer as simple as “It’s Bitcoin or tyranny.” If we aren’t careful, we could end up with both.

Here's the thought process: At this point in Bitcoin's adoption, there's a good argument to be made that people understand self custody.
There's also a good argument to be made that businesses understand the need to accept all methods of payment.
But most of them don't know how to make their self custodial wallet meet their invoicing & compliance needs. That’s why I try to stay away from GAS as much as possible. My main synths are the rytm and the four. Still learning but when I listen to what I made with them at first vs now, there’s a clear improvement. I sequence the td-3 through the other two so still only need to learn the main too. Mastering the gear is key. It can get way more creative. Watched some Aphex twin like jam on YT yesterday with the rytm. The guy was only using 3 tracks. Much more studying to do
