In late 1569, a French nobleman named Michel de Montaigne was given up as dead after being flung from a galloping horse.
As his friends carried his limp and bloodied body home, Montaigne watched life slip away from his physical self, not traumatically but almost flimsily, like some dancing spirit on the "tip of his lips." Only to have it return at the last possible second.
This sublime and unusual experience marked the moment Montaigne changed his life. Within a few years, he would be one of the most famous writers in Europe. After his accident, Montaigne went on to write volumes of popular essays, serve two terms as mayor, travel internationally as a dignitary, and serve as a confidante of the king.
It's a story as old as time. Man nearly dies, he takes stock, and emerges from the experience a completely different, and better, person.

Yeah, I guess that's true. And I guess also in the long run, another silver lining is that as long as none of this crap affects how I can use Bitcoin personally then I guess I really shouldn't care if people are playing Fiat games. People will get burned, but imo that's part of playing Fiat Games.
At the end of the day, I can still send a vendor like you, Bitcoin, without a third party giving me permission, so I guess it doesn't really matter, and I don't have to put my Bitcoin into these schemes.

Late stage fiat. The silver lining is that, if Bitcoin wins (it will), then these schemes will not be sustainable. I do think that those schemes are accelerating fiat collapse and some people who don't stop playing with them soon enough will get hurt.
Bitcoin back bonds and treasuries give me a weimar republic vibe. Im pretty sure people were getting that type of loans too to profit from the collapse of the mark.

yeah, i'm just wondering why light rail has disappeared from so many cities tho, i love riding on the trolleys... was my favourite way to travel in Sofia, but they were decommissioning a few of the lines unfortunately... when i first moved to Brisbane there was a few left but they are all gone now... i don't understand the logic of it, because busses are absolute turds, stinky, loud, blocking traffic, and ugly
i mean, in sofia, very often where they removed trams they left the electric cables and had these stupid buses with big pylon hanging off the back instead, they were constantly losing their connection to the wire

But also there's the windshield or the seat in front of you to think about. You're going 60 but the thing in front of you is suddenly only going 10. On a bike you need to wear body armor for when you get yeeted off the bike, but you're definitely more vulnerable than a seatbeltless person in a car.
