He added: "Therefore, we consider the Alexandria Library a window to the world and a window from the world to us, and the main goal of this approach is to have a balance of values such as trust, justice, tolerance, and equality among people, and all these human values that build civilization, can be achieved through the library's various activities, which are diverse and varied, including academic, cultural, and artistic activities, exhibitions, museums, concerts, theater, cinema, and poetry recitals, and awards for poets and intellectuals in general and for scientists in particular, with this approach, we present a model of what a modern library should be. Now, there are discussions around the world about the importance of libraries and their role, and it is no longer just a concept of reading or research that occupies our minds, but the matter has expanded to a wide cultural scope. Dr. Ahmed Zayed continued his speech, saying: "The modern Alexandria Library was established on October 16, 2002, and it was established as an electronic library with a digital character, and all connections within it are electronic, using email and electronic exchange. On the other hand, the library is making a significant electronic effort through its digitization center, which digitizes many books, and we have digitized over half a million books so far, and we digitize around 3,000 pages every day, and the library also has an electronic reserve of manuscripts, with over 120,000 digitized manuscripts, and around 6,000 natural manuscripts, all of which can be accessed in seconds. Dr. Zayed explained that the library has programs for archiving natural, cultural, and material Egyptian heritage, and a specialized center for this task, which has played a major role in documenting churches, mosques, streets, palaces, and public gardens, as well as crafts, traditions, and customs, and even natural heritage such as animals, plants, and archaeological sites, all of which have been documented and digitized, and there is a complete archive of them in the library, in addition to another program called "Memory of Egypt," where we preserve a complete archive of Egyptian political leaders and some historical figures. Multiple cultural windows for communication with Arab libraries and cultural centers, Dr. Ahmed Zayed said: "Egypt is taking the lead in its role, cooperating with its Arab environment, which is its main and essential environment, and we learn this in schools and say: There is a circle that starts with the Arab experience, then expands to the African circle, and then to the global circle, this is what we learn in schools and teach our children, and the library adopts this vision, and I, in my vision, inside the library that I presented to the board of trustees, adopt this idea, because Arabic culture will never be complete and will never achieve its goals with a single effort.
