The Ruler of Sharjah, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, emphasized the importance of continuous and intense efforts to achieve sporting achievements in international competitions, which are considered a national priority. He highlighted the importance of educating young players, spreading the spirit of sports, and cooperation between all components of the sports community in football, including players, administrative and technical staff, and the public, to produce matches that please everyone. This came during His Highness's reception, this morning, at Al Badiyah Palace, of the first team of Sharjah Football Club, which won the AFC Champions League 2 title after defeating Lion City Singapore 2-1. His Highness awarded the first team of Sharjah Football Club a prize of 20 million dirhams in recognition of their historic victory, the first in the club's history and the country's. His Highness congratulated the players and staff of the first team of Sharjah Football Club on their historic Asian title, saying: 'We celebrate with the officials of the UAE, the people of the UAE, and those residing with us, this victory that came after years. This joy will not end, but we will continue it with the UAE national team's victories in their upcoming matches.' His Highness stressed the importance of forming a strong national team and taking care to ensure that players know each other through intense training, as being part of the national team is a matter of national pride, not a club. He addressed the players, saying: 'You are now raising the flag of the UAE, so you must exert effort and forget about the local league competition.'
