Origami pentakis dodecahedron!
I decided a few weeks ago that I wanted to make a truncated isocahredron out of sonobe units. I made some and started assembling them into triangles and then (what I now know to be) a hexapentakis truncated icosahedron. I soon decided to actually calculate how many sonobe modules I would need and decided 270 was far too many so rethought my plan and settled on a pattern that only requires 90 modules.
I then set various rules for the colours and spent a lot of last week playing with different options and trying to find one which satisfied my conditions. I was working on colouring the graph of a truncated isocahredron and wanted:
(1) all edges around a face to be a different colour to each other and
(2) all edges coming out of a face (spokes?) to be different colours to each other too
(and of course any adjacent edges must be different but this is covered by condition (1)).
After many failed attempts of doing this by hand and beginning to doubt it was possible, I eventually numbered the edges and made this into a graph colouring problem on a graph with 90 vertices and stuck it into Sage which confirmed the chromatic number of the 90-vertex graph was in fact 6 and gave me a possible colouring.
Then several hours later at the end of last week, the modules had been put together. Due to the way each edge from my diagram was rotated, the resulting shape is made of triangular faces (if you imagine filling in the gaps) and is in fact the dual of the truncated icosahedron - i.e. the pentakis dodecahedron.

Homesteading ourselves, and I drive a semi during the week, so I get it. Good pay from the day job and building an apiary, planting trees and perennials, and looking forward to getting chickens again when our side hustles get big enough I can quit driving for a hatchery.
Six figures with a CDL though, so have some building to do! :) might be an option to consider for you too…

Ok, so basically, the kind of group community features that people currently rely on Telegram for are perfect for a local, multi-category, members-only communications channel.
Which Nostr client offers or is actively developing these capabilities?
Is SimpleX the answer? I haven’t explored its group chat options enough—does anyone have insights?
It almost feels like a boots-on-the-ground recruitment effort is needed for a collective switch within well-organized, connected local communities. That would be ideal.

Good Morning Nostr,
I woke up committed to doing something uncomfortable today. I'm putting myself out there to let the world know I'm interested in employment opportunities in the Bitcoin space. I’ve been searching for a while, but I’m ready to ramp it up, mix it up and see what happens with the social capital I've been building here on nostr...
This is hard and uncomfortable because I hate talking about me. I prefer doing, building, creating, and occasionally writing (people at work say I'm good at it 🤷). But one of the most important things Bitcoin teaches us is that doing the hard thing is often the right thing, so lets see where this goes.
My experience feels like it borders on irrelevant for Bitcoin at times, but if I’ve proven one thing throughout my career it is that I’m adaptable and learn quickly. I didn't know anything when I started working—I barely knew how to get to the CLI 🖥️. I have a degree that supposedly claims I'm capable of learning, but being a bitcoiner is the real truth to that. I tend to gravitate towards leadership positions once my feet are under me. I lead with a servants mentality and enjoy customer support and leaving people with a smile. I've spent 16+ years in IT doing everything from call center support and tier 1 tickets to desktop and server administration to project management with some team lead and management responsibilities along the way. I've done a lot of educating and guidance both in my career and my interactions surrounding my Bitcoin experience.
I’ve learned quite a bit about Bitcoin and have a broad experience with most aspects to self-sovereignty, self-hosting, and privacy. I don’t claim to be an expert--as soon as you do you get humbled. I love learning and gaining new skills and checking out new, useful tech.
I know what I know and have a good sense of knowing when I don't know--the difference is just the delay in finding the answer. I'm confident I can provide value where ever I go, respectfully I feel I always have. I'm a down in the dirt, get stuff done type--it was instilled in me from birth getting dirt under the fingernails on the farm.
Some personal interests I've been educating myself on and exploring include artificial intelligence, project management, IT service management framework and application analysis and development.
Anyway, if you’ve read this far, genuinely thank you 🙏and if you’d be so kind as to pass it on to spread the word I’d be eternally grateful because you never know where this mycelial web of human connections might lead.

A starter pack can just be a list of users and a relay set, we just need a mechanism for a user to use one of these lists as an invite code. still brainstorming the best approach.

Hmm, used to get follow issues in the past but it been feeling pretty solid for a while now.
I have no clue if this would work, but have you ever tried logging out of your clients, logging in to https://metadata.nostr.com/ , clear all of your relays and save.
Then try re-adding your relays fresh via your main client.

I was planning to make the parallel caching server feature/system a thing to implement later down the line, but relays are nowhere near reliable (at the moment, or perhaps it's not being done correctly on my end) at fetching most events ("why are there so few mods?" when there are close to 200), so aiming to have that up and running asap.

lol. not saying this about everyone, love my bitcoin fam, but it needs to be said that the 'toxic btc cult' reputation seems well earned for more than a few of you.
it's generally the one's who just parrot blanket 'btc is the saviour, everything else is a shitcoin' statements, don't speak with their own words, link to sources they don't really comprehend, think nostr is private, only recently learned why they need a vpn on the internet and don't actually understand how all this privacy stuff works.
harsh? yes. so have recent comments been. bring it. love the free speech.
again this is not for most of you #plebchain. most of you have level heads and still love bitcoin. i am an avid bitcoiner, but i don't drink the cool-aid and ignore it's shortcomings.
bitcoin is about freedom. privacy is essential for freedom. it is complicated to have privacy on a public ledger. bitcoin is an awesome store of value, but it needs a 2nd layer for greater privacy and to solve the fungibility problem. lightning is maturing. cashu is also maturing. monero solves the spend issue now with privacy baked in on a protocol level. it is currency. it's meant to be spent.

Coraline tá enorme, com aquele mesmo buchinho de Yukio.
Elza já tá toda amostrada entrando em casa e deitando nos cantos. Fui colocar comida pra ela e pra outra hoje e percebi que ela tem o olho esquerdo deslocado. ele fica com a pupila bem pra cima quase sumindo.
