根据本次FTC的起诉文件，优步通过推送通知、弹出窗口和应用内广告诱导用户注册付费订阅，但未明确告知需收费，甚至通过信用卡公司合作“秘密扣款”，部分用户反映“从未注册却被持续扣费”。FTC强调，优步的取消流程需多达32步操作、跨越23个页面，且关键步骤被隐藏，涉嫌违反消费者保护法。
另外，优步在推广中宣称Uber One用户每月可节省约25美元，但FTC认为这一数据缺乏依据。实际计算中，订阅费（9.99美元/月）未被计入成本，导致用户实际节省金额被夸大。
面对指控，优步全盘否认，坚称其注册和取消流程 “透明合法”。发言人诺亚・爱德华森（Noah Edwardsen）表示，90%以上的用户取消订阅仅需20秒或更短时间，且公司从未未经同意收费。优步还强调，其已根据FTC此前的调查反馈优化了流程，例如在应用内显著标注订阅费用和取消路径。
此次诉讼并非孤立事件，而是FTC近年来打击订阅服务乱象的延续。此前，FTC已对亚马逊、Adobe等公司发起类似指控，涉及隐藏费用、取消障碍等问题。例如，Adobe就曾因在订阅服务中隐瞒提前终止费而被起诉。
