Hello everyone! I want to share my opinion on how much a node or multiple nodes in the #Bitcoin #LightningNetwork can earn for their owners, using the example of my own nodes. I will provide the figures as an annual percentage.
Currently, over approximately five days, the entire network of my nodes earns about 500,000 satoshis per day on average. This is an average parameter. 500,000 satoshis is 0.005 bitcoins.
The liquidity on my side across all nodes is roughly around 300 bitcoins. So, let's simply calculate the annual percentage. You can roughly calculate it like this: 0.005 bitcoin multiplied by 365 days divided by 300 bitcoins. Multiply by 100%, and it comes out to about 0.6% profit from fees, which are currently at 700 ppm + 1 sat base fee.
This formula does not take into account the costs for opening channels, which include on-chain fees for Bitcoin channel opening transactions, nor does it include various expenses related to channel closures, whether automatic or forced, cooperative or forced. We are just taking the net figure as if the same channels were open all year without any expenses. You should also consider the risks associated with annual node maintenance. These include hosting costs, creating backups, labor efforts, and the risks of node hacking, which could theoretically be hacked and have all funds stolen.
Is this a profitable venture? You decide for yourselves. I just wanted to share some useful information with you.

Yes. The GFC hit me very hard because of extremely bad timing.
I was already on a short-to-medium contract in Qatar when the collapse was acknowledged by Hank Paulson during October/November 2008, which led to the announcement of TARP. I watched it unfold on English language news broadcast by Russia's RT and China's CGTN, in my hotel room, as I ate my evening meals.
By the time my contract came to a natural end (in early 2009) the Western Banks and world economy was already tanking. So when it came to me looking for my next contract in 2009 and 2010, there was literally nothing available. Inevitably, the oil price also tanked, which resulted in the cancellation of many projects. And that's where my specialty was ... in the Oil & Gas Industry.
To make matters worse, during 2009 and 2010 all the Employment Agencies I once used to find me work either went bust, or they were forced to retrench and/or downsize.

Seria ruim se você divulgasse informações secretas sobre os projetos delas, ainda bem que tem consciência.
Eu acho importante que tenha hackers que vêem essas vulnerabilidades. Espero que elas notifiquem aos desenvolvedores dos clients e do protocolo Nostr. Cara, juro que confiava piamente no nos2x.
Acho que o fato de não tirar o pino da granada é questão de caráter e não tem muito a ver com gênero. São pessoas pacíficas e magnânimas.
E é legal ter amigos assim, tive uma há muito tempo, ela decidiu sumir. Era uma hacker de Portugal, a Maria. Ela conseguiu executar um vídeo remotamente no meu computador uma vez, um vídeo de terror. Nunca cheguei a pedir nada relacionado a hack para ela, quando eu precisei, ela já tinha sumido.

Another open source project that I've had my eye on and you may want to check out is SilverBullet: https://silverbullet.md/ . I really like the server-first PWA design, but I've got so much momentum with Logseq that I haven't been able to do a proper evaluation yet.

I get the sense that a LOT of their early users switched to open source alternatives... primarily Logseq and Obsidian. Logseq is now my daily driver for "Personal Knowledge Management" and I really love the forward and backward linking capabilities. But it is a pain in the butt to use on mobile and to get syncing to work well.

Awesome to hear!! I'm becoming more and more a fan of the Blockstream ecosystem. It does seem to move a bit slower, but I actually appreciate the stability over the last 10 years. Curious, when you are driving how often do you get the chance to discuss Bitcoin or Nostr? I'm always on the lookout for ways to spread the good word to those who are genuinely curious and have an open mind. Sadly, most people these days seem like over-educated sheeple who *think* they have hard-won knowledge about the world, when in fact they are just mirroring what they have been told.

I strongly suspect that the Nostr experience for plebs is orders of magnitude worse than for large accounts. The 1% experience smooths over so many of the technical issues. Not saying they can’t be resolved, just that the “large follower” experience, currently, is not representative of the 99% experience at all… so be wary of influencer opinions on Nostr in general.

I have worked with IPFS and not a fan of the design. Way over engineered, buggy, hard to reason about failures, the list goes on.
