Вот взять, например, OOM-киллер в Линуксе. В системе начинает кончаться память. Идеальным решением было бы подключить человека, чтобы тот вдумчиво провёл диагностику, увидел возросшую нагрузку на БД, но сделал вывод, что правильнее прибить калькулятор, который что-то потёк, хоть и не самый жирный - но наименее нужный, а освободившегося как раз хватит переварить пик. Это долго, не всегда возможно. Зато есть автоматика, которая моментально сработает и грохнет кого попало (ну почти, с некоторыми поправками). В 95% случаев поможет или не повредит, в 5% случаев убьёт не того и сделает хуже, в целом же "норм, пойдет".
Вот можно представить, что по улицам ходят такие же робокопы. Утопии не будет :)
