Token spending approval: difference between signing a message and signing a transaction
Hello,
using DeFi (mainly on L2 like Base but I assume it's the same on Ethereum), I noticed some protocols allow me to only "sign" a message (with no cost) to allow spending a token, while other require to sign a transaction (that has gas fees).
Could anyone explain the difference between those two spending approval? Why one or another?

Noord-Koreaanse militairen vechten mee aan de Russische kant tegen Oekraïne. Dat heeft de Noord-Koreaanse regering bevestigd. Eerder dit jaar pakte Oekraïne enkele Noord-Koreaanse militairen op als krijgsgevangenen, waarmee duidelijk werd dat Noord-Korea zich in de strijd had gemengd. Tot nu toe had het land, een bondgenoot van Rusland, echter de inzet nog niet officieel bevestigd.
In een verklaring die via staatspersbureau KCNA werd verspreid, zegt de militaire commissie van de regerende Arbeiderspartij dat Noord-Koreaanse troepen hebben bijgedragen aan de bevrijding van Russisch grondgebied, waarmee vermoedelijk de Russische regio Koersk wordt bedoeld. Rusland zei dit weekend dat die regio, die maandenlang voor een groot deel was bezet door Oekraïne, weer volledig in Russische handen was. Oekraïne ontkent dat.

It's a data format that allows wallets and other tools to exchange information about a Bitcoin transaction and the signatures necessary to complete it.

Son: Using a PSBT makes it possible to do this in a standardized way. The first version of PSBT (version 0) is described in BIP174 and PSBTv2 is described in BIP370. Nowadays, I wouldn't recommend a wallet not supporting PSBTs.
