Here's how : pick the altitude you want to be the space terminus, then put a space station at that altitude and at a velocity that makes it geostationary. Make sure the station is modular and expandable, to accommodate a lot of mass - at least half the mass of the elevator. Then find a geostationary orbit directly below that station - that's where you put the mass that will unspool into the cable between the earth and the terminus. It won't need to be much lower - it might even end up being connected, but for the thinking, its easier to visualize two discreet masses. The cable unspools in both directions - to the terminal station and the ground. Every point along the line will be geostationary.
That's how to visualize it. You can imagine variations in which there are multiple stations at different altitudes, allowing for access to different orbits. Only the cable between the lowest station and the earth has to be a particularly strong material.
Also we don't need any new materials to do this on the moon. IMO we should make a space elevator on the moon ASAP

Is this the most complicated, masterful thing I’ve ever made? No. But neither is it some modern art slapping paint on a canvas schlock either. I would argue that there is definitely artistry involved in the design and creation of something at this scale, even if its design is relatively simple. Is it also decoration? Yes. But what is art? If art is something that makes people stop and think… well hopefully this does that too just by its very nature. One of my goals with my Bitcoin art is always to spark conversations and help send people down the rabbit hole. I think a giant stone Bitcoin statue accomplishes that. “Huh. Why would someone want a giant Bitcoin logo statue?” And then the conversations start.

I would certainly like to see lightning on monero and I think I know a way to do it, though it's not pretty -- you'd have to make a bunch of presigned transactions for every block a txo "might" get mined in at an unknown point in the future.
But bitcoin is the better blockchain to build lightning because of its small block size. That's the only way I think is sensible for keeping a blockchain decentralized. Monero is garbage money because it is centrally controlled and designed to centralize further as usage increases. Blocks get bigger -> nodes get harder/more expensive to run -> regular folks stop doing it -> the rich control the network
Bitcoin is designed to last. Monero is designed to die fast.

you can write scripts in go too, but it's not exactly as simple as shell scripts, so, as a server dev, i focus on my work and the less i care about other people's ideas the more efficient i get
