He signs: Pineapple Fund
And the donations start immediately:
💰 $1 million to Watsi (healthcare in poor countries)
💰 1 million dollars to The Water Project (drinking water in Africa)
1 million to EFF (digital freedoms)
💰 $500,000 to BitGive (crypto and NGOs)
... And that's just the beginning.
In all, nearly 60 associations receive donations.
"Money is useful, but having too much of it doesn't add anything to my life. I prefer to use it to do good.
As for the donor, he remains invisible.
He gives no filmed interviews.
No identity, no photos.
He's not looking for publicity or a return.
He just creates a pineapple logo and an ultra-minimalist site with the phrase:
"If you're doing something great, apply for a donation."
"My goals in life have nothing to do with having XX million or being mega-rich. - Pine "
Pine only helps registered charities. No donations to individuals.
But the fund accepts applications, even if some NGOs are unfamiliar with Bitcoin, Pine helps them create a wallet, secure the seed and convert the funds into fiat.
At its peak, the sum donated is worth over $86 million.
He keeps his word. He gives everything.
Until this final message, in early 2018: "Mission complete. The Pineapple Fund is closed. We have donated over 5,000 BTC. Thanks to the community."

And Pine, the founder of PineApple Fund, will never be heard from again.
Some questions remain unanswered: Who was he? How much Bitcoin did he really own? And why did he do it?
But at least we know one thing: He proved that Bitcoin can also change lives... without expecting anything in return.
