all i am saying is we should use words to mean the things they mean. If anything is a nostr client then nostr client becomes a meaningless phrase.
I think as a dev I find this frustrating because they try to compare their “nostr client” against others to show how amazing they are, but it’s a lie. Compare amethyst, nostur, gossip, etc against each other sure, because all those are on the same playing field. Comparing primal to real nostr clients doesn’t make sense, because primal is more like bluesky or twitter, where they control all the infra and what everyone sees, censoring people from their algos, and monitoring user searches.
Do you see me bickering about this about other clients? No, i just want people to understand what is actually going on so they can make informed decisions instead of just pretending they are not a bad actor at this point.

I actually think "Sats" should always mean the smallest unit on the Bitcoin network. So if we divide everyone's balance by 10 every halving we would have the same fraction of a Bitcoin and the overall network, but have 10x as many sats.

Kille ontvangst Joodse overlevenden: 'Opnieuw aan hun lot overgelaten'
Nederland staat vanavond tijdens de dodenherdenking stil bij de slachtoffers uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Tachtig jaar geleden werd Nederland bevrijd van de bezetting door nazi-Duitsland. Hitler was verslagen en dat werd in het voorjaar van 1945 groots gevierd. Voor de meeste mensen gold dat ze de verschrikkingen van de oorlog zo snel mogelijk wilden vergeten. De blik was op de toekomst gericht, Nederland moest weer opgebouwd worden.
Maar voor Joden die terugkeerden uit de kampen of uit hun onderduik, was de ellende nog lang niet voorbij. Na al het leed dat ze hadden doorstaan, stond hen bij terugkomst een kille ontvangst te wachten. Dat vertellen drie Holocaust-overlevenden in de NOS-documentaire Nederlandse Joden na de bevrijding - Terug naar niets, niemand, nergens, die vanavond te zien om 20.50 uur op NPO 2.
Eén van hen is Izak Salomons. Hij is zes jaar als hij samen met zijn ouders wordt bevrijd uit het concentratiekamp Bergen-Belsen. Hij verblijft met zijn ouders enige tijd in Zwitserland, voordat het gezin naar Nederland kan terugkeren.
Ze komen terecht in een grootschalige opvang in het Veemgebouw in Eindhoven. De ontvangst staat Salomons nog helder bij. "We kwamen in Nederland plotseling weer in een soort kamp terecht. We werden weer als gevangenen behandeld", zegt Salomons. Het voelt vernederend en onwelkom en het contrast met de warmte en zorg in Zwitserland is schrijnend.
Izak Salomons vertelt in deze video wat hen te wachten stond, toen hij met zijn ouders terugkwam in Amsterdam:
Volgens historicus Michal Citroen was de Nederlandse overheid totaal onvoorbereid op de terugkeer van vaak zwaar getraumatiseerde overlevenden uit de concentratiekampen. "De repatriëring verliep moeizaam en bureaucratisch. Veel Joden kwamen op eigen houtje terug naar Nederland en bij aankomst werden ze opnieuw volstrekt aan hun lot overgelaten."
Geen onderscheid tussen terugkeerders
De toenmalige regering had al tijdens de bezetting besloten dat er na de oorlog geen onderscheid zou worden gemaakt tussen Joden en niet-Joden. Joodse overlevenden werden daarom op dezelfde manier behandeld als bijvoorbeeld dwangarbeiders die terugkeerden uit werkkampen.
Maar dwangarbeiders hadden vaak nog een woning en familie, in tegenstelling tot de ongeveer 5000 Joodse overlevenden die terugkwamen naar Nederland. Michal Citroen: "Familieleden, vrienden en kennissen waren vermoord. Woningen en bezittingen waren verdwenen. De Joodse gemeenschap was totaal ontwricht."
In het Veemgebouw, een opslaglocatie van Philips in Eindhoven, werden ontheemden opgevangen:
De bureaucratische en afwachtende houding van de regering tegenover de Joodse terugkeerders is volgens Michal Citroen kenmerkend voor hoe de Nederlandse overheid omgaat met crisissituaties.
"Bang zijn voor hordes zieke mensen die op Nederland afkomen, de grenzen dicht, iedereen registreren en daarna aan hun lot overlaten. Dat is niet iets nieuws. Dat bestond waarschijnlijk al voor de oorlog, dat bestond tijdens de oorlog en dat bestond zeker ook na de oorlog."

Problem is, the users have no idea how Primal works. Heck, I spend a fair chunk of my time trying to wrap my head around how all this stuff works and still didn't know Primal wasn't verifying note signatures locally, only on their caching relay.
Users need devs to help them understand how their clients work, and why it is important that they work that way as opposed to the way it has been implemented in other clients. Otherwise, users only understand what they experience, and Primal delivers a pretty good experience.
