Debt would be a tiny fraction of equity and tiny fraction of base money in an equity-based system with finite money.
Interest to pay loans would come from the borrower's success at deploying that loan productively. In cases where they cannot pay back, they default. So lenders' interest basically comes indirectly from those who lent and got defaulted on.
In a debt-based system, debt levels are pretty high relative to equity, and extremely high relative to base money. Even a rather small default wave is a pretty big percentage of the monetary base, which is why they don't allow it for long and instead print more money.

I was thinking about your example from before when 500m are lent, and 200m need to come from somewhere to pay down the debt.
What happens in an equity based system if someone does lend? Where does the additional money that needs to exist come from? Cant wrap my mind around this somehow.

Just saw The Amateur—an entertaining spy thriller with a cerebral twist. Rami Malek plays the role of a CIA cryptographer. The plot stretches believability at times, but remains engaging.
It had also some whitewashing for the CIA that I didn’t like, but hey, who expects a mainstream movie to glorify whistleblowers?
All said, it's a gripping narrative that keeps you hooked. If you're after entertainment, it's worth a watch. I'd rate it 6 out of 10.

Sorry for your awful experience. You are not missing much. Most jobs are fake, the tool has became increasingly buggy and the algorithm basically burries everything but product and sales people pedaling GenAI. LinkedIn surely has seen better days. At the time, nostr was barely more than an idea. Very few were using it. Fewer still understood what it could become. And yet, there was something unmistakable in it—something honest. Something necessary.
Fiatjaf’s design struck me as elegant in the way that only true protocols can be. The best systems do not need to be sold. They are not invented so much as uncovered—like mathematical truths. Good protocols take minutes to explain, hours to design, days to write, weeks to prove, months to mature, and years to replace.
In 2008, faced with institutional failure and monetary abuse, someone with a poor choice of OS, limited programming ability, and a basic grasp of cryptographic primitives carved out a narrow escape route—one governed not by authority, but by thermodynamics and consensus. It wasn’t genius that gave Bitcoin its strength. It was the refusal to ask permission. It worked because it could not be stopped.
Nostr shares the same impulse. It is raw, principled, decentralised, and unowned. Its power does not come solely from its technical design, but from the ethic of those who use it—those who build without permission and speak without fear.
The need for such tools became inescapably clear during the pandemic, when a once-free civilisation chose compliance over conscience. Dissenting voices—many of them scientific, rational, and well-informed—were erased from public discourse. Had nostr existed at scale, the outcome might have been different.
Many believe Bitcoin’s progress means the danger has passed. I believe the opposite is true and that it's not time to let our guard down. If Bitcoin is the way out of monetary tyranny, nostr is the exit from informational control and the foundation of networked resistance. But we must remember: protocols are inert. It is not the tools that will save us. It is the will to build—and the courage to resist.

Is there a LinkedIn like professional network or job board built on Nostr? If not, is anyone building one or thinking about it? Anything concrete beyond jobstr like hashtags?
I know a lot of folks here think of LinkedIn as one of the cringiest platforms ever created, but given its current level of enshittification, there's certainly room to replace it. Plus, it would do wonders to advocate for Nostr outside of BTC and crypto circles and attract folks that otherwise wouldn't touch Nostr. As far as I can tell, ActivityPub doesn't have a LinkedIn alternative either, so Nostr could be the first decentralised LinkedIn replacement, or at least one of the first open alternatives.
