running knots will literally do nothing different. even if everyone was running knots, if you really wanted to get around tx censorship you would just use miner apis instead of knots p2p. They would be incentivized to do this if it earned them more fees.
Once his client has total control, he would be able to hardfork at will: make smaller blocks, censor all data transactions. You could argue this is a good thing if you were short sighted. In reality it would mean bitcoin is whatever luke thinks bitcoin should be. he would rule bitcoin with total control.
This is why we have a review process in core… who thinks luke ruling bitcoin is a good thing?

There is this rigly.io thing popping up on my feed. I've only messed around with it a little today. Seems I can purchase and schedule hashrate to be delivered to their pool for a duration on Saturdays with a payout address if a block is found.

Awesome discussion. Mechanic's summary at the start was more convincing than anything I've heard in favor of this retarded change. The beginning of the core woke infestation was the PR to remove the word "blacklist" from some test code because, somehow, this word is offensive. All the devs cried "it's no big deal" but I knew at the time it was a bad sign. Now core is a woke cesspool. I will not be running their software anymore.

Today, 55 years later, that threshold remains unchanged.
But $10,000 ain't what it used to be back in 1970.
To give you an idea of just how much money $10,000 was back then:
- US Median household income was $9,870
- The average US house cost approximately $23,000
- Chevy Impala, the best selling car in the US in 1970, had a starting price of $3,200
So you could go to your Chevy dealer and buy three Impalas in cash without triggering the cash transaction reporting requirement.
Today, thanks to the lack of adjustment for inflation, far smaller purchases like a high-end Apple Mac Studio computer purchased with cash would trigger a reporting event.
Adjusted for inflation, the threshold should be $82,422 today.
At the rate they are printing money, in a couple of decades you'll need to report every other grocery shop 😂
