A Secretaria Municipal de Mobilidade e Trânsito (SMT) anunciou que a partir da próxima segunda-feira (12), os radares de fiscalização eletrônica de velocidade serão ativados em quatro trechos de vias com alto fluxo de veículos. A medida visa intensificar o controle da velocidade no perímetro urbano, prevenindo acidentes e promovendo um trânsito mais seguro para todos.
De acordo com a SMT, o limite de velocidade em todos os trechos fiscalizados será de 40 km/h, conforme sinalização já instalada nas vias.
Os pontos que contarão com os equipamentos de fiscalização são:
Avenida Bartolomeu de Gusmão, entre a Travessa Moraes Sarmento e a Travessa Sete de Setembro;
Avenida Anysio Chaves, entre a Avenida Bugavile e a Travessa Papoula;
Avenida Dom Frederico Costa, entre a Rua Sol Nascente e a Rua da Amizade;
Avenida Moaçara, entre a Travessa Caranã e a Travessa Eurico Dutra.
Segundo o secretário municipal de Mobilidade e Trânsito, Marcelino Xavier, o retorno dos radares é parte de um planejamento técnico que visa garantir mais segurança nas vias.
“Essa é uma medida que busca salvar vidas. Os equipamentos estão instalados em locais estratégicos, definidos por critérios técnicos. A Prefeitura de Santarém está comprometida com a segurança no trânsito, e a fiscalização eletrônica é uma ferramenta eficaz para promover um comportamento mais responsável por parte dos condutores”, afirmou.
A efetividade desse tipo de fiscalização é respaldada por diversos estudos nacionais e internacionais. Em Minas Gerais, por exemplo, trechos de rodovias estaduais com radares registraram uma redução de 77% nos acidentes entre 2011 e 2022, segundo o Departamento de Edificações e Estradas de Rodagem (DER-MG). Em Palmas (TO), após a implantação da fiscalização eletrônica, houve uma queda de 94% nas mortes na rodovia TO-050.
Estudos do Banco Interamericano de Desenvolvimento (BID) mostram que a fiscalização eletrônica pode reduzir em 30% os acidentes e em até 60% as mortes no trânsito. Cada equipamento instalado evita, em média, 3 mortes e 34 acidentes por ano. Esses dados evidenciam que a presença dos radares não apenas coíbe excessos de velocidade, como também salva vidas.
Campanhas educativas
Para o chefe da Divisão de Educação para o Trânsito da SMT, João Betcel, o trabalho de conscientização também é fundamental nesse processo. “A ativação dos radares não é apenas uma questão de punição, mas de educação. Vamos reforçar campanhas orientativas nas escolas, nas vias e nas redes sociais, para lembrar os motoristas de que dirigir com responsabilidade é um ato de cuidado com o próximo”, ressaltou.
A definição dos locais onde os equipamentos foram instalados foi baseada em estudos técnicos e análises de engenharia de tráfego. De acordo com Marcos Williams, assessor técnico da Divisão de Engenharia da SMT, a escolha dos pontos levou em conta fatores como volume de tráfego e comportamento dos condutores. “São trechos com alto fluxo de veículos e onde o desrespeito ao limite de velocidade é recorrente. O radar atua como um inibidor, tornando o trânsito mais ordenado e seguro”, explicou.
A SMT reforça que os condutores devem observar a sinalização vertical e horizontal, que indica o limite máximo de 40 km/h nos trechos com fiscalização. A infração por excesso de velocidade é considerada gravíssima, grave ou média, a depender do percentual acima do limite, podendo gerar multa e pontos na Carteira Nacional de Habilitação (CNH).
