With a seating capacity of up to 10,000 spectators, the theatre hosted a variety of performances, including comedies, poetry readings, and mimes, all offered free to the public.
A defining feature of the theatre is its massive stage wall, or scaenae frons, which stands at 37 meters high and 103 meters long. This wall is adorned with intricate architectural details and originally featured a statue of Emperor Augustus, symbolizing the grandeur of Roman imperial architecture.
Over the centuries, the theatre experienced periods of decline, particularly after its closure in 391 AD due to the rise of Christianity, which opposed such "pagan" entertainments. During the Middle Ages, it was repurposed as a fortress and later as a refuge during the French Wars of Religion. Restoration efforts began in the 19th century, notably under the direction of Prosper Mérimée, leading to the theatre's revival as a cultural venue.
Today, the Roman Theatre of Orange is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized for its exceptional preservation and historical significance. It continues to serve as a vibrant cultural venue, hosting events like the annual Chorégies d'Orange opera festival, thereby maintaining its legacy as a center of performance and art.

M1 : L’incroyable Crabe en expansion

Explication : répertoriée sous le nom de M1, la nébuleuse du Crabe est le tout premier objet de la célèbre liste de Charles Messier celle des choses qui ne sont pas des comètes. En réalité, la nébuleuse du Crabe est désormais connue comme étant un vestige de supernova : un nuage de débris en expansion issu de l’explosion terminale d’une étoile massive.
La naissance violente du Crabe a été observée par des astronomes en l’an 1054. Large d’environ 10 années-lumière, la nébuleuse continue aujourd’hui de s’étendre à une vitesse d’environ 1 500 kilomètres par seconde. On peut voir cette expansion en comparant les images nettes des télescopes Hubble et James Webb. Les filaments dynamiques et fragmentés du Crabe ont été capturés en lumière visible par Hubble en 2005, et en infrarouge par Webb en 2023.
Cette créature cosmique se trouve à environ 6 500 années-lumière de nous, dans la constellation du Taureau.

Great! Also added support in Snort while testing this, im curious which clients support this, everybody talks about how great Blossom is for censorship resistance but i dont know if we really handle it properly in clients.
