Interestingly, I only learned the difference a couple of months ago, as I thought the same.
Complicated systems with many parts that are predictable and can be analyzed and solved with expertise. Think of a jet engine, if you understand all the parts, you can predict the outcome when making changes.

I am not.... For the most part. We should rightly fear sinful ideation. "What would it be like to engage in immoral behavior X?" Evaluating the consequences is fine and encouraged, trying to catch how it would feel is dangerous. That isn't to say there aren't corner cases where is can be a good, evaluating criminal psychology etc. but for normal people (anyone not trying to solve a specific related problem)it can just lead to an unhealthy fascination with sin.

For a project of this importance forking has serious implications, and isn't a trivial matter as Sjors makes it out to be. I would rather see agreement and users concerns taken seriously. Forking core is a last resort option and I'm glad we have it. But anyone who cares about the success of core, and I do, won't tritely say "just go fork it". It's lazy and dismissive. Sjors doesn't need to worry, we all know we can fork or run knots.
