A Baixada Santista registrou um aumento de 14% no número de óbitos no trânsito nos três primeiros meses de 2025, em relação ao ano anterior. Entre janeiro e março, o Departamento Estadual de Trânsito de São Paulo (Detran-SP) contabilizou 64 mortes, contra 56 no mesmo intervalo de 2024.

Durante o período, o mês de março se destacou como o mais letal, com 28 vítimas fatais, frente a 22 no ano anterior. No comparativo, o número de mortes neste ano é menor apenas em fevereiro, com 14, contra 18 em 2024.
Já entre as cidades, Praia Grande segue com o maior número de mortes nos dois anos analisados, mesmo com uma redução em 2025. No primeiro trimestre de 2024, o município registrou 15 óbitos; neste ano, foram 13.
Itanhaém, por outro lado, teve o aumento mais expressivo. Os casos quase quadruplicaram, saltando de 3 para 11 mortes — um crescimento expressivo de 265%. Guarujá foi uma das poucas cidades a apresentar redução considerável, caindo de 8 para 4 óbitos.

Perfil das vítimas
De acordo com os dados do Detran, em 2025, 80% das vítimas fatais no trânsito foram homens, enquanto 20% foram de mulheres. Ainda segundo o levantamento, a faixa etária com mais óbitos é a entre 20 e 24 anos, com 13 mortes.
Entre os modais, as motocicletas lideram com folga, somando 31 mortes. Ciclistas aparecem em segundo lugar, com 14 óbitos, seguidos por pedestres (13) e ocupantes de automóveis (3).
