In 1789, Thomas Malthus wrote "An Essay on the Principle of Population." In this essay, he outlined an equation for polulation growth in abundant resources as a function of time. He said that with abundant resources, populations tend to grow exponentially, doubling in size after a relatively fixed amount of time. However, Malthus also proposed that the resources themselves only grow linearly with time.
The conclusion being that for one reason or another, humans would not continue to live as populations do in abundant resources. Maybe we would starve, maybe we would take proactive steps to counteract population growth. Many people who agreed with Malthus's premises concluded that population control is the best course of action for humans as a species. This philosophy of population control is called Malthusianism.
Personally, I think that Malthus's second premise about the growth of resources is pretty evidently false, though the specific correct equation for resources with respect to time is not obvious to me. Perhaps the amount of resources is constant, if you subscribe to a physical model where the universe ends someday. Perhaps the resources increase at a rate of time squared as we expand our resource production across a larger and larger surface area. Or t^2*log(t), if you take into account ever increasing efficiency of resource production and extraction. Or perhaps they increase at a rate of t^3 or t^3*log(t) if you take into account the possibility of tunnelling into the ground, or expanding in all three dimensions of space as well.
But in any case, unless the laws of physics graced us with the ability to print space and matter from nothing, or give us the ability to essentially teleport exponentially far into space, then I believe that we will eventually reach a point where the human population grows faster than our resources do. Polynomial growth always loses out to expolential growth, no matter the exponent of the polynomial or the base of the exponential.
The real question therefore isn't whether the human population will outstrip its resources, but rather the unchallenged conclusion that population control is the good response. Me personally, I have been aware of this problem for a very long time, but I have never believed that proactive population control is a good response. I believe that every life is worth living, even if it is certain to be cut short by a sudden or even continuous catastrophe.
Yes, I am thankful to not be living in a time where half the population dies before reaching maturity, but I am even more thankful to be alive at all. I know that many people want to live a life with a certain minimum standard, where they put in the required effort and get out some level of expected returns. Me though, I don't know if I could ever complain about my life. Living here on Earth is better than living in any kind of out there, contrived, dime-a-dozen fantasy world.
Also, voluntary homosexuality or asexuality aren't solutions, sorry. Populations still increase exponentially whenever resources are abundant.

Когда лингвист Елена Волкова получила письмо от своего бывшего наставника, профессора Морозова, она решила, что это шутка. В конверте лежала фотография древнего манускрипта с символами **Цолькина** — 260-дневного календаря майя — и одна строчка:

Через три дня Морозова нашли мёртвым в кабинете. На стене кровью было выведено: **«9-Имиш»** — одна из дат Цолькина.

Елена отправилась в Мексику, в архив, где работал Морозов. В его записях она обнаружила странную закономерность: **13 дней** из календаря майя не соответствовали ни одному известному циклу. Более того — эти дни были **намеренно удалены** из всех официальных хроник.
— *Это не просто календарь, — объяснил ей местный историк, понизив голос. — Это карта. Карта дверей.*
— *Каких дверей?*
— *Тех, что открываются, когда наступает "нулевой день".*
### **3. Общество Хранителей**
Всё глубже погружаясь в исследования, Елена наткнулась на упоминание о **«К’ук’ульканском круге»** — тайном обществе, существующем с доколумбовых времён. Их цель — следить, чтобы **запрещённые дни** никогда не были вычислены.
Но Морозов нашёл способ.
В его записях Елена обнаружила формулу, связывающую Цолькин с **современным календарём**. Если расчеты верны, то следующий **"нулевой день"** наступит через **72 часа**.

В ту же ночь на Елену напали.
Человек в чёрном, с татуировкой змеи на запястье, прошипел:

Она вырвалась, но поняла — за ней следят. Каждый шаг, каждый звонок. В её ноутбуке появились файлы, которых она не открывала: аудиозаписи на мёртвом языке, где сквозь шёпот прорывался **стон**.

За 12 часов до "нулевого дня" Елена закончила расшифровку.

Да обычная Lavazza из Пятерочки уже какой-никакой, но кофе. Но да, гораздо удобнее, когда привыкшие к хрен чему завсегдатаи фастфудных просто вообще не знают, каков на самом деле кофе должен быть на вкус.
У меня, кстати, в свое время, когда прилавки вместо нормальных соков из одного конкретного фрукта заполонили всякие "яблочно-виноградные" и прочие типа миксы, была аналогичная конспирологическая теория, что это делается для объяснения слишком далеко уже отошедших от натуральности вкусов плюс ради отучения людей от вкуса нормальных соков вообще)
