Things I don’t need to think about
- investments
- what clothes to wear
- which food is better for me (either circle the store perimeter or shop at farm stands and butcher shops)
- budgets (only buy what I need, save the rest)
- the right time to do something - just create processes and schedules and stick to them
- car maintenance - stick to the schedule, do everything on time
- When / what to shop for - just have it delivered weekly
Things I do “waste” time on:
- Hobbies - tinkering with hardware with no clear goal in mind
- growing some of my own food (not currently, but previously and soon again)

European regulators and national governments encounter obstacles in implementing environmental policies, feeding frustration amongst farmers. We hypothesize that these issues relate to climate change skepticism within the farming community and dissensus with non-farmers and between countries. To test this hypothesis, we analyzed climate attribution and impact skepticism amongst farmers and the rest of the working population using the Eurobarometer and the European Social Survey, and national data about gross domestic product (GDP), innovativeness, share of agricultural land, and climate damage risk for agriculture. Impact skepticism of farmers increases with decreasing risk of climate damage and increasing GDP, causing a South-North gradient in Europe. The majority of farmers in the EU countries were more skeptical than non-farmers. Understanding and reducing this skepticism provides a key to more effective mitigation and adaptation."

A former Republican primary opponent to Rep. William Robert Braddock III was [charged](https://www.huffpost.com/entry/william-braddock-charged-threats-against-anna-luna_n_66faa13fe4b0a61d19be8f68?origin=related-recirc ) with one count of interstate transmission of a true threat to injure another person in 2024 over the threat that was recorded in a phone call.
'Luna is a f**king speed bump in the road. She’s a dead squirrel you run over every day when you leave the neighborhood.'
Luna had accused Braddock of stalking her and wanting her dead during the campaign in 2021.
Braddock was recorded speaking to a political activist when he threatened to contact his "Russian-Ukrainian hit squad” and have her killed.
“I really don’t want to have to end anybody’s life for the good of the people of the United States of America,” he said on the call that was [obtained](https://www.politico.com/news/2024/09/27/opponent-anna-paulina-luna-threatening-00181523 ) by Politico. “That will break my heart. But if it needs to be done, it needs to be done. Luna is a f**king speed bump in the road. She’s a dead squirrel you run over every day when you leave the neighborhood.”
However, there was no evidence that the Marine veteran took any actual steps to fulfill the threat.
Luna went on to win the primary election for Florida's 13th Congressional District and also won the general election. She has since won a re-election campaign.
Braddock was sentenced to three years in prison.

Officials said that Braddock flew to Thailand once the investigation began before eventually settling in the Philippines, but he turned himself in to law enforcement in Manila in 2023. He was brought to the U.S. to face trial in 2024.
Luna's office released a general statement about death threats to the congresswoman when Braddock was charged.
“Female members of Congress are disproportionately targeted for stalking, violence, and harassment compared to their male counterparts," said a Luna spokesperson to HuffPost. "This alarming trend points to a broader and more disturbing issue of violence in the political arena."

Found to be in possession of hundreds of pieces of elephant ivory, rhino horn, pangolin scales and hippo teeth, the traffickers were sentenced to between 18 months and 14 years in prison.
The case was hailed as a milestone in Malawi’s growing capacity to curb wildlife crime. With help from international donors, the country has set up a forest and landscape monitoring center, trained police, judicial and anticorruption officials on forest and wildlife crime, and achieved major reductions in elephant ivory and pangolin scale trafficking — not bad for a nation with a GDP per capita of $602 a year.
Such progress, however, is now in jeopardy following the Trump administration’s sudden shutdown earlier this year of USAID and its sweeping freezes of conservation grant programs administered through several federal agencies.
U.S. funds channeled through NGOs in Malawi have helped equip frontline law enforcers and strengthen wildlife laws, according to Brighton Kumchedwa, director of Malawi’s Department of National Parks and Wildlife. Taking down the Chinese syndicate, he told Mongabay, 'would not have been possible”'without this assistance.
But in Malawi and elsewhere, the abrupt cuts now threaten to diminish this momentum, thrusting wildlife officials into what Kumchedwa describes as a 'difficult situation.'

It was sort of routine for them. Hawaii single-wall wood construction, well built, on wood posts. It would wash up the valley. The family would tote it back down and set it back on the posts. The owner's an experienced professional carpenter and over the years redid the interior beautifully and strengthened the frame to be pretty rigid.
His family is an old Hawaiian one that has owned the valley for over 200 years, I understand, so I think they've been through it a lot.

It works fine, I even got it to run windows only games with proton pretty stable but that's not the gripe. The main issue is that out of nowhere there's a random dependency that gets taken out with a seemingly innocent update or app uninstall and it borks the OS.
I'm learning about immutable distros but not liking it so far.
