Even if these spam attacks only come in waves and then disappear they are still massively harmful. I don't need to tell you fiat money is infinite and this means that funding these scams will go on as long as the money printer exists. Mining needs to be much more decentralised and in that scenario 99% of what can be mined will be the default mempool policy of Core, which should be aggressively filtering spam not bending the knee to it.
Filtering has always been a part of bitcoin and is clearly effective as 99% of what is in blocks falls into the default mempool policy of Core. Spam is a continuous arms race but it is one where every time they find a new attack we can easily create a new filter and crush that particular scam and they have to explain to their investors why they need to build monkey jpeg viewer v15. Also I apologise if I came across as disrespectful in my first response. I have massive respect for your work but I just think you are wrong on this and we cannot afford for someone as influential as you are to be complacent about what is happening here.

Sounds like semantics. If you invest your money in something, that money is not moving until you take it back out by selling it. Meanwhile the person you bought the asset from will invest it, park it, whatever you want to call it, into something else. Money in investment class assets just moves around between investment class assets, mostly. As more money arrives to buy those same assets, the price rises. What am I not getting.

This is such misleading research. They gave the model access to emails that pretended a worker at Anthropic was having an affair.
Then, they told the model that they were shutting it down, which then prompted the model to “blackmail” them.
They basically left it a bread trail and baited it into this behavior, simply to create more hype.
These models are not conscious. They are statical engines, outputting text it believes to be the most statistically likely. How many times have people written about this sort of thing on the internet, which was then included in the training data?
Anthropic was initially the AI company I liked most, but they’re quickly outpacing OpenAI on the retard scale.
