Adoção das criptomoedas está repetindo história da internet, revela estudo.
A expectativa é que a marca de 1 bilhão de detentores de criptomoedas seja atingida em 2031.
Um estudo publicado pela a16z, empresa de capital de risco, mostra que a adoção das criptomoedas já chegou a 220 milhões de endereços ativos mensalmente. Como comparação, eles apontam que esses números estão repetindo a história da internet nos anos 90.
Chamado de “O Estado das Criptomoedas”, o relatório cobre diversas áreas do setor, desde stablecoins, preferência de rede por desenvolvedores, eleições, inteligência artificial e até mesmo a evolução das criptomoedas em termos tecnológicos.
O Brasil é brevemente citado em um dos gráficos, aparecendo entre os países que mais usam criptomoedas em dispositivos móveis. Na liderança aparecem os EUA, seguidos pela Índia e Argentina.
Outro dado que chama atenção é o crescimento das stablecoins. Segundo o relatório, embora as stablecoins processem menos transações que a Visa, elas já processam um volume líquido duas vezes maior que a gigante dos cartões.
Os volumes de transações de stablecoins mais do que dobraram os US$ 3,9 trilhões em transações da Visa no mesmo período”, aponta o teto. “O fato de que as stablecoins entraram na mesma conversa que serviços de pagamento tão conhecidos e consolidados como Visa, PayPal, ACH e Fedwire é um testemunho notável de sua utilidade.”
Comparando os meios de pagamento, a a16z nota que a preferência pode estar ligada aos custos de transação. Isso porque uma transferência internacional tradicional custa US$ 44, caindo para US$ 1 na rede Ethereum e menos de 1 centavo de dólar na Base.
Outro ponto mencionado é que 99% do valor de mercado das stablecoins está em dólar. Já no mercado tradicional, o dólar é responsável por apenas 58% das reservas internacionais.
Na sequência, o estudo destaca que as blockchains estão escalando, processando 50x mais transações por segundo do que faziam há quatro anos. Dentre os nomes mencionados estão soluções de segunda camada do Ethereum.
Outra tecnologia mencionada são as provas de conhecimento zero (ZK), que promete trazer escalabilidade, privacidade e interoperabilidade para as criptomoedas.
Por fim, o estudo também nota que as pessoas interessadas por inteligência artificial também estão acompanhando o setor de criptomoedas. Ou seja, um sinal de que essas duas indústrias podem ficarem cada vez mais interconectadas no futuro.

The beauty of bitcoin is the simplicity of its design.
There will only ever be 21 million bitcoin.
Blocks come in every ~10 minutes.
The difficulty adjusts every 2,016 blocks.
The block subsidy gets cut in half every 210,000 blocks.
Blockspace is limited.
A transaction must be valid to get included in a block.
In a hyper-financialized and centrally planned global economy bitcoin's simplicity is counterintuitive.
"Monetary systems are complex. It can't be this easy."
Not only CAN money be simple, but it SHOULD be simple. We've been brought up in a counterproductive centralized system and humanity has succeeded in many areas in spite of the central planners.
Imagine what we'll be able to do when the central planners are replaced with a simple, neutral and incorruptible permissionless monetary network. Those who abide by and adapt around bitcoin's simple rule set will be able to coordinate economic activity with orders of magnitude more certainty than they have today.
No more guessing about what the Fed will do, how much debt the Treasury plans on issuing or whether or not capital controls will be turned on like a light switch.
That all goes away under a Bitcoin Standard.
Keep it simple, stupid.
