A cidade de Maricá (RJ) sediou a 1ª Assembleia da Associação de Cidades e Municípios do Brics+ na tarde desta terça-feira (27) com a participação de 26 países emergentes, que têm a meta de aumentar a influência geopolítica e econômica global.
Pela manhã, foi realizada a reunião da FLACMA (Federación Latinoamericana de Ciudades, Municipios y Asociaciones de Gobiernos Locales), que é uma organização internacional que representa mais de 16.400 municípios, intendências e associações municipalistas na América Latina e Caribe, incluindo a seção latino-americana da Organização Mundial de Prefeitos.
Paralelamente, ocorreram outras reuniões menores com os temas: Desenvolvimento Sustentável das cidades do Brics+: segurança alimentar e ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance); Mulheres Brics+; Sessão sobre Juventude; Arquitetura e desenvolvimento urbanístico.
Maricá está sedia a 1ª assembleia da associação de cidades e municípios do BRICS
Além da assembleia, os representantes estrangeiros acompanharam, nesta segunda (16), apresentações culturais, e, nesta quarta (28), farão um tour para conhecer práticas locais, que inclui os jardins comestíveis construídos em praças públicas da cidade.
O prefeito de Maricá, Washington Quaquá, presidiu a assembleia.
“Precisamos construir um mundo tecnologicamente avançado, mas também mais solidário, onde a paz prevaleça sobre a guerra e onde os acordos internacionais sejam respeitados. O Brics tem hoje um papel fundamental como motor dessa nova humanidade. Vamos buscar uma nova aliança global com desenvolvimento partilhado e tolerância cultural”, afirmou o prefeito, que é também presidente da Associação Brasileira de Municípios (ABM).

Ao g1, autoridades internacionais falaram sobre a relevância do encontro para o fortalecimento dos países emergentes.
“Acreditamos que nessa cooperação ninguém pode se salvar sozinho, mas podemos fazer isso juntos e é de grande importância para o desenvolvimento dos territórios. Então, participar desse evento tão importante, estar aqui em Maricá, nessa festa da cidade, nos enche de orgulho”, disse o prefeito de Cruz Alta, na Argentina, Augustin Gonzalez.
O papel da mulher também foi destacado no encontro como fundamental para o desenvolvimento de uma sociedade mais equilibrada e justa.
“Este é um palco, um fórum internacional onde as mulheres e questões relacionadas às mulheres também estão sendo discutidas. Há diferentes sessões — BRICS Plus Juventude, BRICS Plus Mulheres — então, neste contexto, também quero expressar meu ponto de vista aqui: quando as mulheres recebem liderança, elas representam com uma perspectiva ampla. Sinto-me extremamente feliz, como mulher, ao ver que onde as mulheres estão presentes, tudo caminha junto com o desenvolvimento e o progresso,” disse Dra. Somya Gurjar, prefeita de Jaipur, na Índia.
O que é o Brics+
O Brics+ é uma expansão do Brics, anteriormente composto por Brasil, Rússia, Índia, China e África do Sul, e que agora inclui novos membros como Arábia Saudita, Egito, Emirados Árabes Unidos, Etiópia e Irã.
Participaram do encontro em Maricá Augustin Gonzalez, prefeito municipal de Cruz Alta, na Argentina; e Dra. Somya Gurjar, prefeita de Jaipur, na Índia
