Nieuwe crypto-ontvoering in Frankrijk voorkomen, meer dan 20 arrestaties
In Frankrijk is voorkomen dat opnieuw een crypto-ondernemer werd ontvoerd. Dat meldt het Franse persbureau AFP op basis van een bron bij de politie. De laatste tijd zijn in Frankrijk meerdere mensen uit de crypto-sector of hun familieleden ontvoerd.
De meest recente ontvoering stond gepland in de buurt van Nantes, in het westen van het land. Er werd ingegrepen voordat dit kon gebeuren. Hoe dat precies ging, meldt de politiebron niet.
De politie heeft afgelopen twee dagen 24 mensen gearresteerd voor deze poging tot ontvoering en een poging eerder deze maand bij familie van cryptobaas Pierre Noizat.
Criminelen probeerden twee weken geleden om de zwangere dochter en kleinzoon van Noizat mee te nemen in een busje. Haar partner, de vrouw zelf en een buurman wisten de ontvoering tijdens een fysieke confrontatie te voorkomen.
Vingers afgesneden
Begin deze maand slaagde een ontvoeringspoging wel. Toen werd de vader van een crypto-miljonair meegenomen in Parijs. De ontvoerders eisten 5 tot 7 miljoen euro losgeld van de zoon en hadden een vinger van de man afgesneden.
Hij werd na twee dagen bevrijd uit een pand in het departement Essonne, vlak bij Parijs. Ook arresteerde de politie vijf mensen.
En eerder dit jaar werd David Balland, medeoprichter van cryptobedrijf Ledger, ontvoerd met zijn partner. Zij werden meegenomen vanuit hun huis in Méreau, in de omgeving van Bourges, en daarna van elkaar gescheiden.
Balland werd - nadat ook bij hem een vinger was afgesneden - bevrijd tijdens een politie-inval. Zijn partner werd een dag later gevonden, vastgebonden in de kofferbak van een auto op een parkeerplaats in Essonne.
