TEXAS just passed a law that turns Big Tech giants Apple and Google into bouncers at the gates of the internet.
Under SB 2420, starting 2026, app stores must verify the age of every user. Want to download a weather app? You’ll need to show ID. And if you’re under 18, you can’t install anything without a parent’s permission.
This isn’t about “protecting children.” Porn apps are already banned in the app stores. This is about creating a mass surveillance system that erases anonymity, chills speech, and forces Texans to hand over their real identities to access digital life.
The state tells developers to “delete the data.” But delete when? And trust who? Developers? Apple? Google? You’re betting your privacy on a handshake.
Meanwhile, Apple and Google are forced to collect and store troves of sensitive info from every user, just to comply.
For Texans, from next year, everything you say on a social media app can be tied to your real-world identity.

This is actually a good idea. In the early days, we would manually approve all actions after reviewing them, to make sure we knew what was happening. This helped prevent random profile changes, relays being nuked, contacts being nuked, etc.

Yeah but technically it still would free up bitcoin as if it was loaned to you, with the risk of liquidation of the collateral you place (or stop loss targets) and the work needed to manage that risk. It's like how investors use LEAPS to get exposure to a stock over a year or more without actually putting all of their collateral into the equivalent amount of equity for the same price fluctuation. That frees up more collateral to be used anywhere else because of the fungibility of money. So technically, it's the same, just with highly adjustable risk and risk management requirements.

I was thinking about a nostr based Uber app. It would need a trust system, and a good trust system have some judiciary functions to counter false & unfair reviews.
Wonder if anyone has been building such things for the bitcoin sphere yet. I know the Ethereum people love to blockchain all this stuff. But I think maybe nostr could solve it as well.
