That is absolutely true! Got another option for service-provider initiated subscription payments that is more widely adopted by wallets? I can't think of one.
I think NWC is pretty early in adoption, and yet anyone who runs their own node can use it with either Alby Hub or LNBits, there are viable custodial options in Coinos and Minibits, and self-custody in Electrum wallet, if I remember right. Would love to see Zeus' embedded LND support it, as well.
I hadn't heard of Flash, which someone else had mentioned, but from what I can see, that's just invoicing. So the user still needs to manually approve payment being sent each time, while a subscription implies the funds are automatically deducted each month without user interaction required.

Well, your math is off, for one thing. Your statement that “selling will cost more” is only true if you assume a cost basis of $0.
So yeah, if you got your coins back in 2009-2010, you might pay more to sell them than to use them as collateral for a loan. However, you probably also have a massive stack of coins.
You only pay capital gains on the difference between the USD denominated value at the time you obtained your Bitcoin and the value at the time you sold it. Moreover, your cap gains rate will vary based on a couple major factors: First, your annual income. If you are in the highest tax bracket, you’ll have a higher cap gains rate as well, while you may have no cap gains at all if you are in the lowest tax bracket. Second, whether you have held the asset for one year or less, or for more than a year. The highest rates (10%-37%) are restricted to assets sold that you held for one year or less. Anything you held longer than that tops out at 20% and could be as low as 0%, depending on your annual income. So, it just might be that you pay LESS for selling than in interest on a loan.
A comparison might be in order. Let’s compare getting a $100k loan from Strike vs a couple different scenarios of selling to obtain the same amount of fiat and compare the total cost. Remember, the total cost of the loan isn't just the interest. The principal has to be paid back at some point, as well.
Conveniently, Bitcoin has “crashed” back to around $100k, so that will help us make the math easier by assuming a $100k value for Bitcoin for these examples.
Strike Loan: Getting a loan for $100k requires the borrower to post 2 full Bitcoin as collateral. Let’s assume our borrower is being responsible and his stack is at least 5x that, for a total stack of 10 Bitcoin. That means only 20% of his stack is at risk, should the price plummet, so he has plenty to post as additional collateral, if needed. Strike’s loan terms right now are for a max of 12 months, and the rate for a loan that “small” is currently quoted at 13% on their website. Assuming the borrower needs to use that money for something, he takes the option to make interest only payments until maturity, at which time he pays back the principal as well. So, he started with $0 fiat and 10 Bitcoin, posting 2 as collateral to receive $100,000 in fiat. Over the course of the loan, he makes monthly payments of about $1,083.33 and pays back the $100,000 principal at the time of maturity. His net fiat cost, then, is $13,000 in interest, but his total cost to borrow is $113k. However, he also gets the full 2 Bitcoin back that he put up for collateral, so he still has 10 Bitcoin. Total cost fiat = $113k and total cost Bitcoin = 0.
High-Income Seller: Now let’s assume this same individual is high-income (married and making $584k a year) and he decides to sell enough to get the same $100k; namely just one Bitcoin, while he keeps the other 9 in cold storage. Assume he bought his coins at $15k back between 2017 and 2020, so when he sells one Bitcoin, he is going to pay 20% cap gains (highest tax bracket for long-term) on the difference between $15k and $100k, for a total of $17,000. However, he also doesn’t have to pay $100k principal + $13,000 interest back to a lender, so he can use that money that would have had to come out of his income to pay off the loan, less the amount he had to pay in taxes, to DCA $96,000 of fiat over 12 months back into Bitcoin. Depending on what the price does, he may end up with more Bitcoin in the end than he started with, or he may end up with less. For the sake of making things obvious, he spent the exact same amount in fiat terms as the one who borrowed. $96,000 DCA + $17,000 in cap gains is a total of $113k, and a net cost of $13,000, just like if he had gotten a loan from Strike. But the Bitcoin side of the equation is a big question mark, because he may have ended up with MORE than 10 Bitcoin in the end, or more like 9.5-9.9 Bitcoin, depending on what the price did in that 12 months he was DCAing back in. It’s impossible to say whether borrowing or selling was the better choice for him until after the 12 months is up and he sees how much he was able to purchase for that $96,000. Total fiat cost = $113k, total Bitcoin cost 0 to 0.5, and may have actually come out ahead.
Low-Income Seller: Finally, let’s assume that this same individual is low-income instead (married and the household makes about $90k a year), and he sells the same 1 Bitcoin out of his stack of 10 that he bought back between 2017 and 2020. Well, that means his cap gains rate is 0%. There are no long-term cap gains for married folks with an annual income of less than $94,050 combined. So it costs him nothing, except the 1 Bitcoin he sold to get the $100k in fiat. However, his income is not going to allow him to DCA NEARLY as hard as if he had a high income, right? He can’t even put $96k back in over 12 months. That would be more than he makes a year, and his family needs to live off that. So maybe he sold one of his Bitcoin in order to put a nice down payment on a home and keep the monthly mortgage payments as small as he could, allowing him to at least DCA $1,000 a month back into Bitcoin. So, while he has no net cost on the fiat side, he is only able to stack maybe 10m-15m sats over that 12 months, depending on what the price does, leaving them with a final of 9.01 Bitcoin. Total fiat cost = $12k, total Bitcoin cost = 0.9.
That said, in the last example, a loan from Strike would not have left our fictitious low-income seller in a better position by borrowing instead. He would barely have had enough income to make the $1,083.33 a month in interest-only payments, and then he still would have had $100,000 in principal he needed to come up with to get his 2 Bitcoin back, with nowhere for that to come from. His only choices would have been to roll the loan over for another year and pay another $13k in interest, or sell whatever amount of Bitcoin was needed to pay off the loan. If Bitcoin went up significantly during that time, it would probably be a considerable amount less he needed to sell than if he had not borrowed, but he would still end up with a total stack of 9.[?] instead of the full 10.
In short, the real answer as to whether it is better to borrow against your Bitcoin or just sell it and buy back in over time is not a matter of cap gains costs vs interest costs. Rather, it depends on whether Bitcoin goes up or down in USD denominated value during the period of time in question. If you sell and Bitcoin goes up, then borrowing probably would have better served you. If you borrow and Bitcoin goes down, then selling probably would have better served you.
Indeed, even nostr:npub1cn4t4cd78nm900qc2hhqte5aa8c9njm6qkfzw95tszufwcwtcnsq7g3vle has said that we should not be afraid to pay cap gains in the right circumstances. See his remarks on Strike’s bill-pay service, which is in reference to the higher rate, short-term cap gains.
nostr:nevent1qvzqqqqqqypzp382htsmu08k277ps40wqhnfm60st89h5pvjyutghq9cjasuh38qqqstws0a3llnkk98fqydqgd4v242desq5ymkr2lvyn99hazx0mtft6qxd4fwv
So, it’s not nearly as cut and dried as you have made it seem.
At certain times and for certain people, who are responsible about the percentage of their stack they are putting at risk, Strike’s loan product is a nice option to have. However, for other folks, and at other times, it may just be better to sell and DCA back in.
So, I think that the “never borrow against your Bitcoin” crowd are wrong, but I also think the “never sell your Bitcoin” crowd are equally wrong. And I guess that probably leaves me with no friends. 😂

I use Strike for stacking as well, but I don't leave my stack on Strike for the same reason I wouldn't leave my stack with any custodian.
Instead, I "stack" by sending USD from Strike to my own Lightning wallet hosted on my own full-node. Then, when I get enough built up, I swap it out to on-chain cold-storage via Boltz.exchange.
If you don't have your own full-node yet, you can use another self-custody Lightning wallet, such as Phoenix or Zeus for where you are building up enough for a UTXO to send to cold storage.
Either way, you end up only ever having a relatively small amount in Lightning at any given time, and NONE in a custodian. Even one as solid as Strike.

To je latinkou. Od února 2022, kdy Rusko zahájilo invazi na Ukrajinu, se právě takové „Z“ stalo proválečným symbolem spojovaným s nacistickou svastikou. The REAL far-left and far-right are free thinking justice and liberty minded men. These are the 20% that are demonized by the "mainstream."
The remaining 80% move like cattle toward whomever they perceive is the safest to ally with, whomever has the most power.
This is the real political dynamic, and it makes democracy or a democratic republic a complete farce. Whoever can scare or guilt the 80% the most effectively wins, and this is always determined by the captured media.

Well, sir, you currently have 18 relays on your inbox/outbox list, with ALL of them set as inbox relays, and 9 of them set as outbox. That's a bit excessive. At max, you should have maybe 4 outbox and 4 inbox, and there can be overlap for a total of 4-8 relays.
This does not mean those will be the only relays you read from or write to, just the only ones you are announcing to others, "Hey, find my notes here!" and "Hey, send me replies and reactions here!"
You also have a number of paid relays. You don't need that many. Pick two.
So, for your Public Outbox relays, I would go with:
1. Major Public Relay. Something like nos.lol or nostr.mom from your existing list.
2. Paid Relay
3. Any other relay with good response time.
4. (Optional) Major Public Relay
Then comes the Public Inbox. Here's what you want to get it pared down to:
1. Paid Relay (Same as outbox)
2. Paid Relay (Typically don't need to pay just to read from it)
3. Web-of-Trust Relay
4. (Optional) Web-of-Trust Relay
General Relays are where you can add some other relays you want to write to for reaching users who are on clients that don't support the Outbox model yet. This is why Amethyst conveniently offers you suggestions based on what relays those you follow are using. Again, though, if you add any public relays here, make sure you set them to write only by having the upward facing arrow lit up green while the downward facing arrow is grayed out.
If you want to add some specialty relays, such as writing to hist.nostr.land for keeping backups of your follow list, or reading from purplepag.es so Amethyst is likely to find their relay list, you can add them in this section, too. I also have a couple additional WoT relays I read from that are added here as read only.

Right? It's a lot... Thankfully, Amethyst provides some decent direction and sensible defaults, especially for DM inboxes and Search relays.
You don't have to worry about the private relay or local relay lists unless you are running your own private relay or Citrine.
Just focus on Public Outbox, Public Inbox, and General Relays.

Bitcoin’s price has barely moved in the last week, but other signs point to growing activity on the network. On June 5, Bitcoin traded around $104,300, down 0.50% in 24 hours and off 2.5% over the past seven days. Yet data shows more people are joining the network, and more coins are being passed around. Related Reading: Bitcoin Reserve Gets Military Nod, Senator Predicts Explosive 10-Year Surge Wallet Creation Jump According to Santiment, on May 29 nearly 557,000 new wallets appeared. That was the highest number since December 2023. It means thousands of people are opening wallets even though price has stayed just under $105,000. People normally open new wallets to send and receive bitcoins but they somehow come across the idea through new sources, increased talks among friends or create simple curiosity. In any case, an increased wallet holding indeed indicates a much wider usage. 📊 Bitcoin’s on-chain activity has seen sharp rises this week as its price hovers just below $105K: 📈 May 29th: 556,830 new $BTC wallets created (Highest since December 2, 2023) 🔄 June 2nd: 241,360 coins circulated (Highest since December 8, 2024) Growth in a network’s… pic.twitter.com/2DxknVXrKT — Santiment (@santimentfeed) June 5, 2025 Increased Token Movement On June 2, over 241,360 BTC changed hands. This was deemed the busiest day since December 2024. Reports from Santiment suggest that high coin turnover usually coincides with increased traffic. Traders might be moving coins in and out of exchanges, or investors could be shifting wallets. Big swings in daily token movement can point to a shift in sentiment—people either getting ready to buy or sell. Right now, it mostly looks like more users are sending coins to each other, which keeps the network busy even when price sits still. Big Holders Step In Data from IntoTheBlock shows that large holders—often called “whales”—are stocking up. Their coin inflows jumped by 145% over the last seven days, and by 214% over the past 30 days. When big players load up, it can tighten supply on exchanges. That makes it tougher for new buyers to get in without driving price higher. If whales keep buying at this rate, it could lead to more upward pressure on price once everyday investors step in again. Related Reading: Bitcoin Scarcity May Spark Explosive Surge, Bank Study Shows Mid Tier Investors Buy It’s not just the really big holders adding coins. Wallets holding between 10 and 10,000 BTC added more than 79,000 BTC in just one week. That means these mid-tier holders picked up around 11,320 BTC per day on average. As of June 2, they held over 13 million BTC in total. When both big whales and these mid-level holders keep stacking, it further cuts down the number of coins floating on exchanges. Fewer coins available often mean any shift in demand could move price more. Featured image from Imagen, chart from TradingView

It was just my kind 3 relays before that, so it makes sense that it would fall back to those if it can't find the 10002.

Not in the latest version I am running, which looks to be 1.14 (959). It's definitely getting the list from my kind 3.
The kind 3's content field has "read": true, "write": true after each of the relays in the list, so I know that you CAN specify which is read and which is write on the kind 3. It just doesn't look like Damus supports doing so.
-

@ b7274d28:c99628cb

Amethyst is the correct answer. It gives you the most control over which relays end up on which relay list.
At the top of Amethyst's relay settings you have Public Outbox and Public Inbox relays. This section controls what relays end up on your kind 10002 relay list, and whether they are flagged as write (outbox) or read (inbox). You should only have a few relays listed for each.
Public Outbox relays are effectively where you announce to the rest of Nostr, "If you want to see my public notes, look on these relays." You can absolutely have a public relay or two here if you want.
Public Inbox relays are where you announce, "If you want me to see your reply, reaction, or zap to my posts, please put it on these relays where I am watching for it." Here is where you want no public relays at all.
The next section for DM Inbox Relays will be saved to your kind 10050 for receiving direct messages. These should be specialized relays that will only allow the recipient of the DM to retrieve it from the relay. Looking at your kind 10050 I think inbox.nostr.com likely fits that bill, but definitely not nos.lol. I don't think theforest.nostr1.com is intended as a DM inbox relay either. You would want something like auth.nostr1.com instead. You're looking for relays that support NIP-42 in particular.
The next section for private relays is saved to a kind 10013 list, and should only include relays only you have access to both for read and write. This list is also stored encrypted in the "content" tag of the note, so I have no idea what you have listed there, because others should not be able to see where you are storing your private notes.
Next up are search relays, stored in your 10007 list. These should only be relays that support NIP-50. Looks like you have mostly relays that don't, with the exception of search.nos.today and nostr.wine. Another good one to throw in here is relay.nostr.band, since it is an aggregator that tries to have all text notes. Even though it is full of spam, that doesn't matter for your search relays, because they aren't used for general reading of notes or providing you with notifications. Only for searching.
Local relay is local. Citrine would be what you put here, assuming you are running it.
Finally we get to General Relays. These will be saved to your kind 3 follow list, believe it or not. Amethyst has a bunch of toggles for each of them, but only whether you have them set as read or write will show up on your kind 3. The rest is internal to Amethyst alone. Here you can set relays you want to write to, but don't want "announced" that others should look there to find your notes. For instance, I would put hist.nostr.land here as write only, if you aren't paying for nostr.land. I would put purplepag.es here as read only. Get rid of any public relays that you are reading from here and add some WoT relays instead; read only, or read and write as you like.
Hope that helps you sort through what should go where.

So, it looks like there are 196 npubs on your mute list that are not encrypted at all, visible to anyone who cares to look. Then there is a chunk of encrypted information in the "content" tag that likely includes other npubs none of us can see, but you alone would be able to see if you go to your mute list in your settings on Amethyst or Coracle. Damus will not show these encrypted entries on your mute list. Most clients don't.
