Unfortunately best way is to compress on a computer.. HandBrake. To have full control over quality/speed.
If you are uploading to your own (fast) media server then consider what download speed you want to target. 2-4Mbit/s should be enough for people to have a decent viewing experience.
If you are uploading to free media servers then focus on minimising the size to have a higher success rate on uploading.
Average Bitrate (vbr), 800-1000 kb/s, h265. Consider downsizing to 720p.
Nostr cannot compete with dedicated video websites. They create multiple versions of uploaded video and serve the best one to each user based on their connection.
