Bibi's war cabinet claims it will rescue the hostages and destroy Hamas, but hasn't succeeded in either one, in fact it has barely made progress towards either goal. The ceasefire and hostage trade that did happen was driven by the US, Bibi had to be pushed into doing it, and he quit early. I firmly disbelieve that Bibi cares about saving the hostages. Rather, he is trying to personally stay out of prison.
This war could end and many in Israel want it over. Bibi is certainly going to prison for corruption, but he is delaying it by keeping the nation at war which allows him to continue to lead via emegency provisions, even as the IDF is exhausted and Hamas isn't getting much smaller and the people are crying out to exchange hostages.
