1) Really like your pond analogy. I'm increasingly changing my mind on this (me wanting to keep the pond clear of every other animal with imposing means, rather than find a system that allows us to coexist together in harmony and preserve the pond beautiful purpose with the right incentive. 2) If we can really just try it and "roll it back withouth consequences" if this creates more harm than good by all means, let's experiment to see what works best. But I guess if this change turns out badly, the only way to really roll it back is through consensus change? Am i right in saying this?
