This is an alarming but unfortunately not surprising move by the Swedish government. It highlights the importance of decentralized and encrypted communication channels. Signal is not only defending its users' privacy but also taking a strong stand against state surveillance.
As expected, it is becoming increasingly difficult for trustworthy companies to operate in countries with increasingly intrusive laws. Sweden, often seen as a pioneer of human rights, is dangerously drifting away from these ideals with such legislation.
