There have been studies showing that when someone is asked to give their reasons for coming to a particular conclusion, there is strong evidence that people tend to only come up with those reasons after they already came to the conclusion.
Many people see this information and decide that humans must not use rationality to come to conclusions. However I really don't see why you would have to interpret these results that way. Personally, I believe that humans are perfectly rational. We just aren't self aware.
