Born in 1656, Saint Joseph the New, Metropolitan of Timișoara, faced immense trials. During the Ottoman occupation, he fearlessly defended the Orthodox faith. When the Turks demanded he convert to Islam, he refused, enduring torture and imprisonment. Despite the suffering, his unwavering faith and dedication to his flock never faltered. He was ultimately martyred for his beliefs, becoming a symbol of courage and spiritual strength in the face of adversity. His relics are venerated for their miraculous powers.
O Holy Father Joseph, pray to God for us!
