I don't think this is a totally fair parallel to draw. it's so much easier to accept bitcoin or lightning than it is to accept raw chunks of silver. Sure, someone _could_ take silver as payment, but... just today a relatively new-to-bitcoin farmer sold me local food with bitcoin, because its a much better money in terms of ease of transaction, custody and verification. I can't imagine trying to get this guy to take silver, nor how I would have enough silver on hand (and in the exact correct quantity) to pay him.
Governments might "adopt bitcoin" but whatever tricks they try to pull won't stop me from just using bitcoin tomorrow exactly as I used it today.
