Trump's push to get the rest of NATO spending more on defence. It's not about reducing US military spending. It's about getting us to buy more F35s. That's the part I'd missed. You should all stop listening to anything I say, because that was a glaring error. Sorry.
I suspect and hope that the likely outcome of all this, from a defence industry point of view, will instead be massively increased spending on European weapons and gradual divestment from US ones. Which we should have been doing anyway.
National infrastructure shouldn't be in the hands of foreign powers. Neither should military supplies, as far as independence can be managed. France seems to have understood this perfectly since WW2 whereas Britain has just shrugged and said "free trade mate"
