The more my brain churns on this, the more I'm in favor of the change to remove the standardness rules on op_return limits.
Pros:
- decentralization, reduces need for direct contracting with miners vs TX relaying
- enhanced privacy for these transaction types for location origin
- more blockspace usage indicates more adoption
- data usage is more direct then inclusion in taproot signature
- higher fees paid to miners for data vs if done in taproot as an inscription
- more tx in mempool results in clearer fee rates for tx planning, important for lightning channel transactions
Cons:
- may promote more arbitrary data uses
- increased adoption equates to higher tx fees
- more TX of this kind being relayed may negatively impact low bandwidth nodes or those with data quotas
