Venerable Anthony of Iezeru, a shepherd who became a monk. Illiterate, he memorized prayers and the Psalter, dedicating his life to God in the Iezeru hermitage. He later found refuge in a cave, now part of the monastery. His profound humility and devotion drew others, leading to the establishment of a monastic community. His life, marked by simplicity and deep faith, transformed a solitary retreat into a beacon of spiritual light.
