More tips for Cline
- Have a starting context .md file which gets your AI up to speed. Not just on the repo, but on your mission, vision, and methods of work. Like an employee handbook. Copy this into your new session's starting prompt so that it remains in context
- Build new functionality as technical proof of concepts on discrete test screens. You can let it edit these with confidence as they cannot blow up the rest of your project. When the test screens work, then copy that through to your main app
- Get familiar with its destructive forms of behaviour and stop the task once you see them. Examples like repeated re-edits of the same code, clear misdiagnosis, or "let's take a more radical approach" when it's more likely something minor needed
- When stuck, get it to write briefs for other agents as "external advisors". Copy these into a new AI tool. You get the benefit of a different model, different context, and different internet search, so may get a new perspective which gets Cline unstuck
